Swayzee man arrested on several felony sex related charges
ANDERSON — A Swayzee man has been arrested by Alexandria police on several felony charges involving a 14-year-old girl. Charlie Michael West, 20, was arrested Thursday by Capt. Eric Holtzleiter after being spotted in a parked car at a local church. West is charged with human/sexual trafficking, sexual misconduct with a minor, possession of child pornography, inappropriate communication with a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. In a probable cause affidavit, Holtzleiter said he observed a parked car in the parking lot and observed the windows were fogged up. In his experience, he wrote, that indicated physical or sexual activity. West told police he has had contact with the girl for two years but this was the first time they reportedly met each other. The court document states that a check of West's cellphone found sexual comments, nude photographs of the girl and indications that he sent her money. Officers found 100 active Snapchat conversations, the majority being with young girls and at least five with nude photographs. West said all the other girls were over the age of 18. During a Kids Talk forensic interview, the girl said she sent West nude photographs and received money from him.

Anderson man charged with child sexual trafficking
ANDERSON — An Anderson man has been arrested on charges of promotion of child sexual trafficking and child solicitation. Anderson police arrested Austin M. Roy, 25, 2600 block of Main Street, Saturday, for soliciting nude photographs from a 12-year-old girl. He faces a possible prison sentence of 3-16 years. According to a probable cause affidavit filed by APD officer Courtney Ginder, Roy made contact with the girl in 2024. A witness told police that Roy was sending the girl sexual Facebook messages. During a Kids Talk forensic interview, the girl, reportedly, said Roy at first asked her to send nude photographs of herself in exchange for a vape pen. The girl told interviewers that she did not send Roy nude photographs but did send him photos of her dancing. Earlier this year, Roy wrote in a message that wasn't sent that he wanted to meet the girl for a sexual encounter, police said. In another instance, according to the affidavit, the girl replied to Roy, 'I'm not a whore. I don't sell my body.' During a police interview, Roy said the girl started messaging him on Facebook. Allegedly, he told police that he did cross the line by sending specific messages and, at one point, was just 'joking.' Roy said he could have been drunk when messaging the girl, the affidavit stated. Roy said it 'throws him' that he was getting all of the blame when, he claimed, the girl had provoked the relationship, according to police. The Herald Bulletin does not report the names of alleged victims of child molesting.

Two charged with sexual misconduct with minors
ANDERSON — Two area men have been arrested on charges involving sexual conduct with minors. The Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested James S. Duvall, 84, Noblesville, Monday on felony charges of child molesting and child solicitation. If convicted, Duvall faces a possible prison sentence of two to 12 years. According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Detective Brad Oster, Duvall was fondling a young girl in 2024. During a Kids Talk forensic interview the girl said Duvall would caress her buttocks and at least once tried to pull down her pants. She said another time, Duvall took her finger and placed in his mouth and sucked on it. Duvall also would reportedly press her breasts against his chest. He also attempted to have sexual relations with her. During an interview, Duvall denied the allegations. Deputies arrested Robert L. Short, 30, 4700 block of No Name Road on Monday on charges of providing obscene material to minors, obscene performance violations and neglect of a dependent. According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Detective Caitlin Morency, a young girl said during a Kids Talk forensic interview that Short would enter her bedroom and masturbate and that she saw pornographic images on his cellphone. She said Short could be seen performing a sex act in a bathroom and a bedroom where he would be naked at the time. The girl said she had a lock placed on her bedroom door and would prop it shut at night. Short declined to be interviewed by police without an attorney being present.
