Yas Acres Golf & Country Club triumphs in thrilling Round 2 of Golf Sixes League

Abu Dhabi City Golf Club recently hosted the second round of the much-anticipated Golf Sixes League, Abu Dhabi, where seven teams from across the Abu Dhabi and Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) regions competed for top honours. The Yas Acres Golf & Country Club team triumphed in Round 2, edging out Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, and Golf Club by a narrow two-point margin. After a tense count-back, the home team, Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, secured third place. The Golf Sixes League is a dynamic development initiative designed to introduce young players to golf in an exciting and inclusive environment. Originally introduced by The R&A and now managed by the EGF, the format features a Two-ball Texas Scramble stroke play over six holes. Each round sees squads of 12 players rotating through a team of six, with the best two scores of three pairs counting towards the overall team total. Kieren Pratt, representing the EGF, praised the atmosphere at the event: 'It was an incredible day at Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, filled with energy from the players and the support of their families and friends. "This initiative is gaining real momentum in the capital's golf scene. We're proud of how far we've come and are excited to see how this model can be expanded across the UAE.' He also expressed gratitude to Henry Law, Head Pro of Abu Dhabi City Golf Club, for hosting the event and helping ensure its success. The day was further marked by the presence of Cameron Van Rooyen, EGF National Coach, and Kieren Pratt, who were on hand to support the young golfers. The Golf Sixes League will return on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, at Yas Links Abu Dhabi. 1st – Yas Acres Golf & Country Club – 10 2nd – Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting, and Golf Club – 8 3rd – Abu Dhabi City Golf Club – 7

Popular Robert Rock UAE Championship set for Al Hamra Golf Club return in April

The Robert Rock UAE Championship, a prestigious annual event supported by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF), is set to return to Al Hamra Golf Club from April 1st to 3rd, 2025. This 54-hole tournament is a key qualifier for World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points and is sanctioned by The R&A, marking it as an important event for young golfers in the region. Open to junior golfers aged 21 and under, both boys and girls, the tournament offers more than just the thrill of competition. The winner and runner-up will earn an exclusive invitation to the Clutch Pro Tour Final at Al Zorah Golf & Yacht Club in Ajman, UAE, taking place from October 14th to 16th, 2025. It's an exciting opportunity for rising stars to gain exposure on the professional golf circuit. Kieren Pratt, a prominent figure representing the EGF, shared his enthusiasm for the event: 'The Robert Rock UAE Championship holds a special place in my heart. Having hosted Robert and his team at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa in previous years, it's always a pleasure to welcome him back to the UAE. Last year, he held a 'Master Class' golf clinic for all participants, and I can confidently say it was one of the best I've ever experienced. Robert is an accomplished golfer with five professional wins, including the prestigious 2012 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, and his most recent victory came at the 2023 Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.' Pratt continued, 'Beyond his playing career, Robert is also recognized as one of Europe's top golf coaches. We are extremely proud that the UAE is one of the first destinations for his international golf tournaments.' This year marks the eighth edition of the Robert Rock Tour in the UK, with the UAE leg being the third time it has taken place here. The tour, now rebranded as the Rock Golf League, has already seen one successful event in La Manga, Spain. Golf enthusiasts can look forward to a full slate of fixtures across England later this year, with several key dates. The 2025 Rock Golf League season is packed with exciting events across England. Starting in April, the action kicks off at The London Club on the 7th, followed by Preston Golf Club on the 9th, and Hillside Golf Club hosting a Major event on the 10th. In May, the league will stop at The Astbury and Coventry Hearsall before heading to Hallamshire for another Major on the 27th. June brings events at Abbeydale and Trentham Golf Clubs, while Longcliffe hosts another key fixture on the 29th. July will feature the Ping Major at Thonock Park on the 6th and Headingley Golf Club on the 27th. The Belfry's British Masters on August 4th will be a highlight, followed by Worksop Golf Club on the 6th. The season continues with The Links Challenge from the 11th to the 13th, and finishes in style with events at Royal Mid-Surrey on the 18th, Burhill Golf Club on the 27th, Burton Golf Club on September 14th, and Nuneaton Golf Club on the 28th. The grand finale takes place at Little Aston Golf Club on October 27th.
