Ireland Baldwin reveals rare snap of mother Kim Basinger at her daughter Holland's birthday party

Ireland Baldwin celebrated her daughter Holland's 2nd birthday over the weekend, sharing a rare snap of her mother Kim Basinger in the process. The 29-year-old daughter of Basinger and Alec Baldwin took to Instagram on Monday, sharing snaps from their outing at Triskelee Farm in West Linn, Oregon. The snaps included a few with Ireland's famous mother Kim Basinger, 71, which come months after she was spotted on a rare outing with her father Alec Baldwin in NYC. 'Celebrated Holland's 2nd at @triskeleefarm with our people,' Ireland captioned the Sunday post, which has amassed over 12K likes from her 643K followers. Kim was seen in a snap with her daughter, plus her friend Abby and Maddie, with Kim donning a brown straw hat and black sunglasses. She also wore an olive green jacket and black pants for the outing, with Kim spotted in another pic with Ireland and an unidentified woman. The first snap showed Ireland, her boyfriend RAC and their two-year-old daughter at the festivities, with Ireland donning a black puffer coat and black and white striped pants. She also shared another snap of her holding Holland with a friend named Maddie, plus snaps of Holland petting various animals, including a baby goat that was biting a strap on her dress. The post also included more animal shots, another with RAC holding his daughter alongside Luke Carlson. The final snap featured Ireland and RAC smiling while holding their daughter at the event. While Basinger hasn't appeared in a film since 2018's Fifty Shades Freed, she recently opened up about the need for 'intimacy coordinators' on films. 'It's a very hard thing to shoot a beautiful love scene,' Basinger said in an interview with Variety. 'You think it's just lay down with a bunch of baby oil. It's not. It can really work your nerves,' she added. 'I can't imagine having somebody come up to me and say, "Do you mind if they put their hand here?"' referring to the current popularity of using intimacy coordinators. 'That's just another person in the room. Either we work it out or we don't,' she said. 'I don't see all of this need for supervised visits.' Ireland's father Alec Baldwin also recently opened up about how his messy divorce from Basinger affected his relationship with his daughter Ireland. 'I must say that because my relationship with my daughter Ireland was so negatively impacted by my divorce from her mother and having a very protracted custody battle that the media really were having a party about everything,' Alec said on his TLC reality show The Baldwins. 'It went on for seven years, of which the financials were probably a year and a half and everything else was custody. That's insanity and really tough. One of my most regrettable things about the whole thing was how it affected Ireland,' he admitted.

Cher, 79, issues heartbreaking plea to stop 'inhumane' treatment of two elephants in captivity

Cher, Kim Basinger, and Nicola Peltz Beckham were among the 20 celebrities who signed a letter urging LA Mayor Karen Bass to transport two elderly Asian elephants to a sanctuary rather than the Tulsa Zoo. The LA Zoo announced April 22 they were getting rid of their last two remaining elephants - Billy, a 40-year-old bull, and Tina, a 59-year-old female - after decades in captivity inside a 6.5-acre enclosure. Both endangered animals were reportedly removed from the wild as babies as Billy was four-years-old when he arrived at the LA Zoo in 1989. Tina was reportedly trafficked into the circus in 1969 at one-year-old and endured years of circus abuse before arriving at the LA Zoo in 2010. 'They both exhibit symptoms of zoochosis - including functionless, repetitive motions such as rocking, swaying, and head bobbing,' attorneys Martin Singer and Melissa Glass wrote Sunday in a letter obtained by TMZ. 'We are informed that her transfer (and potentially the transfer of both Tina and Billy) will take place tonight or tomorrow under the cover of darkness and obfuscation. For weeks, Tina has been bound with shackles and now Billy is in chains like a prisoner too. This indicates that their transport is imminent.' Cher (L), Kim Basinger (M), and Nicola Peltz Beckham (R) were among the 20 celebrities who signed a letter urging LA Mayor Karen Bass to transport two elderly Asian elephants to a sanctuary rather than the Tulsa Zoo The LA Zoo announced April 22 they were getting rid of their last two remaining elephants - Billy (L), a 40-year-old bull, and Tina (R), a 59-year-old female - after decades in captivity inside a 6.5-acre enclosure LA Zoo director Denise Verrett said moving Billy and Tina to the Tulsa Zoo would cost $44K, but the celeb supporters can 'easily raise enough money to cover the cost of retiring Billy and Tina to true elephant sanctuaries.' Both Kim and Nicola Instastoried desperate pleas on Tuesday for the 71-year-old Democratic politician as Basinger blasted: 'These are social animals that need to be in a herd, not a prison cell! Where is your compassion?' Meanwhile, Cher tweeted her support of John Kelly's lawsuit on May 10 to block the elephants' move, but a judge denied the temporary restraining order last Thursday. The 79-year-old pop diva's passion for pachyderms was previously captured in the Paramount+ 2021 documentary Cher & the Loneliest Elephant where she helped escort 36-year-old Kavaan to a Cambodian sanctuary. Alicia Silverstone, Diane Warren, Justin Theroux, Katherine Heigl, Lily Tomlin, Mena Suvari, Mira Sorvino, Priscilla Presley, Ron Livingston, and Ron Perlman also signed the letter On April 7, the Tulsa Zoo opened the newly-renovated Mary K. and John T. Oxley Family Elephant Experience alongside their 36,650-square-foot Preserve Barn and 10-acre Elephant Preserve. Dr. Chris Draper, an international expert in animal behavior, visited the Tulsa Zoo on May 10 and called it 'inhumane' for the two males Sneezy and Hank and three females Sooky, Booper, and Connie living there. 'All five of the elephants lack[ed] muscle tone and were not in optimal body condition, and one had a cracked nail,' Dr. Draper said in the letter. 'When the [flooded] "preserve" becomes useable, the elephants will not have unrestricted access because the Tulsa Zoo cannot put all five elephants together in such a relatively small space.' He stressed: 'Accredited elephant sanctuaries offer significantly more space, enough to allow elephants to start to heal physically and emotionally and engage in a more natural range of behaviors.' Tina was reportedly trafficked into the circus in 1969 at one-year-old and endured years of circus abuse before arriving at the LA Zoo in 2010 Both Kim and Nicola Instastoried desperate pleas on Tuesday for the 71-year-old Democratic politician as Basinger blasted: 'These are social animals that need to be in a herd, not a prison cell! The late national treasure championed the remodeled Elephants of Asia exhibit, even testifying before the LA City Council when animal activists attempted to stop construction of the elephant habitat in 2008. 'It seemed like it was never going to happen, and to almost get shut down, that close to fruition — I think it was a whole week that I didn't sleep,' Betty wrote at the time. 'But sure enough by persevering, we got it accomplished, and it's beautiful on both sides of the enclosure. It's great for the elephants, and it's great for the people.' Tina's companion Jewel was euthanized, at age 61, 'due to declining health' in 2023 and another female elephant called Shaunzi was euthanized, at age 53, in 2024 at the LA Zoo. 38 zoos in North America have reportedly closed their elephant exhibits - including the Monterey Zoo, Oakland Zoo, San Francisco Zoo, Santa Barbara Zoo, Sacramento Zoo, and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom.

8 Mile's Kim Basinger Shared Lovely Thoughts About Working With Eminem, But I Just Can't Get Over The F-Bomb Related Script Request She Had: ‘F–king Pancakes'

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. In the history of moviemaking there are many, many absurd stories about how and why people got cast (or didn't get cast). I have a feeling 8 Mile would have been a very different movie without Kim Basinger playing the role of Stephanie Smith, the mother to Eminem's character Jimmy in the movie. But if the script had gone just a little bit differently, there's a chance someone else entirely would have occupied the role. In a wide-ranging interview, Kim Basinger revealed that she actually had a problem with the 8 Mile script when she read it, and it honestly nearly turned her off from the role. Her one request? If they changed one f-bomb-oriented line to another f-bomb-oriented line, she could get behind the character. I remember reading one line where the mother says, 'Do you want some fucking cereal or some fucking eggs.' And I called Curtis. He picked up the phone, and I didn't even say hello. I just said, 'If you'll change the line to 'fucking pancakes,' I'll do the movie. Just thinking about what it must have been like to be director Curtis Hanson on the line during that phone call cracks me up. I have no idea if he felt like it was a six-to-one sort of change or if he maybe even thought 'fucking pancakes' sounded way better or way worse. But just the thought of that being a negotiating point amuses me. In the history of wild movie requests, this one definitely stands out as both an unexpected request but also one that was likely relatively easy to fulfill. It's worth noting Curtis Hanson and Kim Basinger had previously worked together on what some would argue is the "best" detective movie L.A. Confidential before he brought her back into the fold on 8 Mile. She even called him her "dearest friend" in the same interview with Variety. So, she already had a working relationship with the director when she made this script request. But she'd also passed on his movies before, saying no to Wonder Boys a year or two before 8 Mile. I'm guessing he was confident enough in her intuition, because he gave the change the greenlight, with her giggling about the nature of the request even now, so many years after the movie wrapped. The rest is history, and the movie even went on to win an Academy Award for Best Original song thanks to Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' and it's notable lyrics. Working as a director on a movie does not sound like it is for the faint of heart. Once on set, though, Ms. Basinger said everyone was a delight, particularly Marshall Mathers, who really went for it in some of the movies tough subject matter scenes. When Marshall and I started doing these really heavy tough scenes, I remember saying, 'This is only a movie. We're only pretending, but we have to go for it. Let's just go for it. I'm going to say some things and it's going to be horrible and I'm going to keep saying them and they're going to come out of my mouth.' I think we were kind of like two fighters in a ring. To have someone that talented and to have someone that you would have thought had a huge ego, would puff up himself and have an entourage and everything around him, he had some of the nicest people surrounding him that I've ever known. There's nobody in the world like him. Eminem's 8 Mile had an impact on a whole generation of teens growing up in tough circumstances in struggling cities. (Me, I'm talking about me.) The rapper would go on to return to the Academy Awards in 2020 to pay homage to the song and the movie that lived on, though Hanson didn't live long enough to see it. Despite its resonance, the story behind this request is what will likely leave the most lasting impression on me in the coming years. In fact, one could say I lost myself in the story.
