First ever Statesboro Festival of the Arts to be held
STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — Downtown Statesboro will host the first ever Statesboro Festival of the Arts in late March.
The Statesboro Festival of the Arts will be held at The Market at Visit Statesboro and McTell Trail on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, March 23 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
It will be free to the public.
The Averitt Center for the Arts announced the new addition and said that the focus is to bring local and regional artists together for 'a weekend filled with live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, fine art shopping, and family-friendly activities.'
There will be 40 artist booths, including ceramics, metalwork, woodwork and painting.
'Our mission is to educate people on the value of art and the impact it can have on tourism,' said Kim Riner, the visual arts director. 'We have been having meetings and planning for this festival for over a year.'
There will be food and drinks plus live music throughout the weekend.
All participating artists are selected through a blind jury process led by two art professionals, the center said. Then, festival judge will select standout artists for a share of $5,000 in cash prizes.
