Kim Soo Hyun scores first big win: YouTuber Kim Se Ui's properties seized, Tzuyang case reopened, arrest warrant looms if he skips summons

The legal battle between Kim Soo Hyun and YouTuber Kim Se Ui resulted in the first win for the actor. On June 9, the Seoul Central District Court approved a request filed by the Queen of Tears star's agency, Gold Medalist, allowing them to seize two luxury properties owned by Kim Se Ui. The actor had earlier filed a lawsuit worth 12 billion KRW against Garosero's (The YouTube channel) head and late actor Kim Sae Ron's family for accusing him of dating the actor when she was underage, alongside breaching privacy and publicly disclosing private matters while fabricating the facts. Also read: Amid Kim Soo Hyun backlash, a look at 7 Korean actors who bounced back from controversies K-media Money Today reported the court found enough merit in the agency's damage claims to greenlight the seizure, at least at this stage. The seized properties include a 120.27㎡ apartment in Seocho Buksan Blooming and a 208.65㎡ unit in Apgujeong-dong's Hanyang Apartment Complex 4. Since the second property is co-owned with the YouTuber's sister, only his 50% share was allowed to be seized. Gold Medalist is trying to secure at least 4 billion KRW from these properties, 2 billion each, as part of its civil lawsuit. Jonjae Law Firm's attorney Noh Jong Eon stated, 'The court likely found reasonable grounds in the claimed damages. However, since this is a provisional seizure, Kim Se-ui's rebuttal has yet to be reviewed. The final compensation could change after a full hearing.' According to the current market analysis, the Seocho apartment is valued at around 2.5 billion KRW; meanwhile, the second one could be valued at around 8.87 billion KRW. However, both properties reportedly have large mortgage loans, so extracting the exact amount to recover their damages might not be easy for Gold Medalist if the court rules in their favour later. The Garo Sero host is now cornered by a double setback. In a completely separate but parallel case, popular YouTuber Tzuyang also filed a lawsuit against Kim Se Ui in February 2025, accusing him of blackmail, coercion, violation of the Anti-Stalking Law, and defamation. The case was reopened after the YouTuber appealed and gave her statement in May 2025. When police tried to summon Kim Se Ui for questioning in both the Tzuyang and Kim Soo Hyun cases, he skipped appearances twice, citing his involvement and business in South Korea's presidential election. Now that the election is over, police are preparing to summon him again. Authorities have also warned that if he continues to ignore summons, they may issue an arrest warrant. The public dispute between Soo Hyun and Kim Se Ui started back in March, following Kim Sae Ron's tragic death. The YouTuber accused the actor of being in an 'inappropriate relationship' with the deceased. In response, the actor and his agency held a press conference where they denied the allegations, stating that the two only dated after Sae Ron became an adult. Following that, Garo Sero dropped more pictures, video call logs, and even message transcripts, some of which were reconstructed. The actor then filed both criminal and civil cases, and in response, Kim Sae Ron's family filed a countersuit against Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of violating child welfare laws and making false accusations. The legal investigations are still ongoing.

Kim Soo Hyun wins court approval to seize 2 properties owned by Garosero YouTuber amid Kim Sae Ron scandal, DETAILS

The defamation lawsuit between actor Kim Soo Hyun and YouTuber Kim Se Ui (Garosero Research Institute operator) has reached a major turning point. According to a June 11 report by Money Today, the Seoul Central District Court approved a provisional seizure request filed by Kim Soo Hyun's agency, GOLDMEDALIST. This allows the agency to claim two of Kim Se Ui's luxury residential properties. The court issued its ruling on June 9, just days after GOLDMEDALIST sought court approval to secure assets amid a 12 billion KRW civil lawsuit against the YouTuber. The ruling signals that the court recognizes a reasonable basis for the damages alleged by the agency, at least at this preliminary stage. Two prime Seoul properties tied to case The properties now under provisional seizure include two luxury apartments in Seoul. This consists of a 120.27 square-meter unit located in Seocho Buksan Blooming. The other is a larger 208.65 square-meter unit in the prestigious Hanyang Apartment Complex 4 in Apgujeong-dong. Notably, while the Apgujeong unit is co-owned by Kim Se Ui and his sister, the court ruling applies only to his 50% ownership share. GOLDMEDALIST is seeking a total of 4 billion KRW in secured damages from these two assets: 2 billion KRW allocated to each property. It is a part of its broader civil damage claim for defamation, emotional harm, and reputational damage. Legal experts suggest more action could follow Attorney Noh Jong Eon from Law Firm Jonjae noted that this kind of court ruling reflects the court's opinion that the damage claim is not without merit. 'The court likely found reasonable grounds in the claimed damages,' he explained. He added, 'However, since this is a provisional seizure, Kim Se Ui's rebuttal has yet to be reviewed. The final compensation could change after a full hearing.' Until then, the court's move ensures that Kim Se Ui cannot sell or transfer the properties in question. Loans could complicate recovery The estimated market value of the seized Seocho apartment currently stands at around 2.5 billion KRW. And a similar unit in the Apgujeong complex was recently sold for approximately 8.87 billion KRW, according to real estate insiders. Despite these high valuations, reports indicate that both apartments carry sizable outstanding mortgage loans. It could make it harder for GOLDMEDALIST to recover the full claimed amount if the court eventually awards them damages. Controversy background The legal battle between Kim Soo Hyun and YouTuber Kim Se Ui began in March 2025. Kim Se Ui accused the actor of having an 'inappropriate relationship' with Kim Sae Ron during her underage years, backed by her family. GOLDMEDALIST denied the claims, later clarifying the relationship began in 2019, after she became a legal adult. The controversy escalated quickly. GOLDMEDALIST filed both criminal and civil suits against Kim Se Ui and Kim Sae Ron's family for defamation, spreading false information, and violating s*xual violence laws. In response, Kim Sae Ron's family countersued Kim Soo Hyun, citing child welfare violations and false accusations. Legal investigations continue.

Kim Soo Hyun scores major legal win against Garosero as court orders seizure of Kim Se Ui's Seoul apartments worth $2.9 million

The Seoul Central District Court has approved the seizure of two high-value apartments owned by Kim Se Ui, 48, CEO of the controversial Garosero Research Institute, following a lawsuit filed by Gold Medalist, the agency representing actor Kim Soo Hyun, 37. According to K-media outlet Money Today, the court's decision, issued on the 9th, targets a 120.27㎡ unit in Seocho Byeoksan Blooming (Seocho-gu) and a 208.65㎡ unit in Hanyang 4th Apartment (Gangnam-gu), both owned by Kim Se Ui. Since the Gangnam property is co-owned with his sister, only Kim's 50% stake was seized. The total claim amounts to 4 billion KRW (approx. USD 2.9 million)—2 billion KRW for each property. Garosero's role in Kim Soo Hyun's dating scandal Garosero Research Institute gained notoriety earlier this year after exposing allegations that Kim Soo Hyun had an inappropriate relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor. The controversy erupted when Kim Sae Ron's aunt claimed the actor had been involved with her niece when she was just 15, while he was 27. Kim Soo Hyun denied the underage dating allegations but admitted to a relationship with Kim Sae Ron only after she turned 19 (Korean age). However, Garosero escalated the scandal by releasing intimate photos of the two, including a nude photo of Kim Soo Hyun, intensifying public scrutiny. Legal repercussions & financial fallout Gold Medalist, Kim Soo Hyun's agency, retaliated with lawsuits against Kim Se Ui and Kim Sae Ron's family for defamation and violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act, seeking 12 billion KRW (approx. $8.7 million USD) in damages. Legal experts suggest that if the court rules against Garosero, Kim Se Ui and the bereaved family could face joint liability, meaning they may share financial responsibility regardless of individual involvement. Financial complications: Mortgages & market value Despite the seizure, creditors may not recover the full claimed amount. Kim Se Ui had already mortgaged both properties for a combined 5.022 billion KRW (approx. USD 3.6 million). Seocho Byeoksan Blooming (2.5 billion KRW market value): Mortgaged for 1.32 billion KRW. Hanyang 4th Apartment (8.87 billion KRW total value; 4.4 billion KRW for Kim's 50% stake): Mortgaged for 3.7 billion KRW. With the seizure claim (4 billion KRW) and existing loans exceeding the properties' market values, Gold Medalist may struggle to recover the full damages sought. Notably, the court's seizure order is provisional, meaning the final amount could change based on Kim Se Ui's defense. However, the case underscores the escalating legal and financial stakes in this high-profile scandal. For now, all eyes remain on the courtroom as Kim Soo Hyun's agency continues its pursuit of justice and compensation against Garosero's explosive claims.
