Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix
Kimmie is officially diving deeper into the Bellarie family's twisted world. Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black has been renewed for Season 2 at Netflix, TVLine has learned. 'We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we're thrilled to continue Kimmie's journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,' Perry says in a statement. 'Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can't wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. Season 1 ended with Kimmie agreeing to marry family patriarch Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross) in order to prevent his greedy children from taking his money and company, effectively making her their stepmom and their new boss. 'I know what's going to happen, so I'm trying hard not to say anything,' Williams recently told TVLine. 'But yes, it's definitely just the beginning of what [Kimmie is] about to get into.' Beauty in Black's ensemble cast also includes Crystle Stewart, Amber Reign Smith, Debbi Morgan, Richard Lawson, Steven G. Norfleet, Julian Horton, Terrell Carter, Shannon Wallace, Bryan Tanaka, Joy Rovaris, Xavier Smalls, Charles Malik Whitfield, Tamera 'Tee' Kissen, Ursula O. Robinson, Ashley Versher, George Middlebrook and Ts Madison. Just as Season 1 was divided into Parts 1 and 2, Netflix has confirmed that Season 2 will consist of Parts 3 and 4. Fans may find out more in the second season of the hit Netflix drama, which Perry teased on Instagram Sunday. His post included a photo of now ex-exotic dancer Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams) dressed in business attire before her former boss, Jules (Charles Malik Whitfield). Netflix released the show in two parts, dropping the first installment in October and the remaining episodes earlier this month. The series follows Kimmie as her life becomes deeply intersected with a wealthy but chaotic family that runs a successful hair care business in Chicago. In the jaw-dropping final episode, Kimmie − a survivor of human trafficking and abuse − makes a major play by agreeing to marry the head of the household, Horace, who is hospitalized, and makes a quick decision to spite his family.
