Cedric the Entertainer and Anthony Anderson Open New Barbeque Spot in Century City
Everyone's invited to the cookout. That's the motto behind AC Barbeque, the brand new restaurant from beloved comic actors Anthony Anderson and Cedric The Entertainer, which officially opened its doors last Wednesday at Westfield Century extension of the pair's BBQ brand of the same name, known for its popular line of rubs, sauces and grilling tools, the shopping center locale is the first brick and mortar space under the AC name (representing the first initial of each star). 'Stepping into AC Barbeque feels like a backyard bash where the grill is always hot and the laughs are plentiful,' Cedric says. 'Anthony and I share this deep love for good barbecue—it's a taste of joy, a slice of celebration. We've poured that passion into every plate."
The fast-casual smoke house is the first of its kind at the shopping center, with a protein-packed menu including brisket, pork and chicken dishes, plus Southern style sides like baked beans, mac n' cheese and cole slaw, the latter of which comes straight from Cedric's wife Lorna's family recipe. 'Ced and I want this place to buzz with the kind of energy and warmth you feel at a family reunion,' Anderson says. 'It's more than just eating great food; it's about creating memorable moments together.' At the ribbon cutting ceremony last week both namesakes were on hand, showing guests the inviting space's in-house smoker and facility, and discussing how they bonded over a shared love of grilling in their respective hometowns— Anderson in Compton and Cedric in St. Louis.
The menu is packed with flavorful options. We tried the A to the C Platter - featuring a trio of brisket, pulled pork, and chicken, three signature sauces, pickles, onions, and breads —Wonder slices and King's Hawaiian rolls, which best complements the tangy sweetness of the meats. We also loved the DBYF Burnt Ends (smoked pork belly with glazed maple sauce). As celebrated on the pair's A&E TV series Kings of BBQ, Black culture and family traditions are front and center at the new spot. Guests order inside and eat on the mall's outdoor dining terrace, which is especially atmospheric at night, with string lights and heat lamps.
