Jamie Vardy tipped for shock Champions League move after leaving Leicester on free transfer
LEICESTER CITY legend Jamie Vardy has been tipped for a shock move to Newcastle. The 38-year-old announced last month that he would be leaving the King Power Stadium this summer. 2 He said: "It's something that I've thought about and spoken about with my family. I think it's time. If you ask anyone, I'm not really an emotional guy. "Nothing like that ever comes across with me, but when you've been somewhere for so long, and it is time to say goodbye, you just never know what your personal reaction is going to be. "I've spent 13 unbelievable years at this club, with lots of success, and some downs, but the majority have all been highs. "It's finally time to call it a day, which I'm devastated about it, but I think the timing it right." Vardy made his final Leicester appearance on the penultimate day of the Premier League season at the King Power Stadium, 13 years to the day since he joined. It was his 500th outing in a Leicester shirt and he scored his 200th goal for the club in a 2-0 win over Ipswich Town. The striker will now become a free agent when his contract expires next month. And Newcastle journalist Dan Murphy believes he could be a great addition to the Magpies. Club chiefs are not expected to spend big this summer due to PSR constraints, so Vardy could be the ideal addition. Eddie Howe will also be keen to strengthen the depth of his squad now that they are set to compete in the Champions League next term. Vardy scored nine Prem goals and provided four assists for Leicester this season. Since announcing his departure from the club, the former England international has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, Wolves and Wrexham. SunSport revealed last week that Valencia also want to sign him, with head coach Carlos Corberan a known admirer. 2

Sutton's predictions: Bournemouth v Leicester
It is a little odd that Jamie Vardy is not going to play for Leicester on Sunday after his farewell game at King Power Stadium last week.I had only just got him in my Fantasy team, in time for his 200th goal for the Foxes, but he is coming out again now and, without him, I do not fancy Leicester to were a bit flat against Manchester City on Tuesday and were well beaten in the end, but I am expecting a better showing from them defeat means the Cherries can no longer finish eighth so their hopes of European football are over but a win here would give them a chance of equalling their highest-ever finish of ninth place (in 2016-17). That's what I'm going prediction: 2-0Read the full predictions and have your say here

'Holding the corner flag aloft, victorious in his pursuit'
Sunday's match was a full celebration of Leicester's greatest ever player; the GOAT. The final Vardy Party. While the match itself was a dead rubber - save for a valuable place up the Premier League table - it still provided a lot of anticipation among us fans as to whether the Leicester City hero could end his career with the perfect tally of 200 goals in 500 games. He wasn't going to leave it at 199, was he?!As with his 'it's 11, it's heaven' goal from the title-winning season, you just felt that Vardy's sheer will and determination, coupled with the setting at King Power Stadium, 13 years to the day that he signed, would see the stars say things happen for a reason and there's a catalogue of timely events that create the perfect moment. The slip from Jack Clarke in the centre circle saw James Justin seize possession and embark on a 30-yard run, with one thing on his mind; to deliver the killer pass to Vardy, as he accelerated diagonally across the box, and caressed the ball through legs of Dara O'Shea, and over the goalline. Elation. Joy. Euphoria. All, of course, 'shared' with the away fans. Holding the corner flag aloft, victorious in his pursuit. What an iconic has been such a rarity and privilege to witness someone as thoroughly talented, selfless, motivated, humble, fierce, intimidating and pure box office as never forgets that football is for entertainment and he has been the lead character of our show for 13 years. His accolades speak for themselves and it is this complete repertoire of the man that fully justifies the term "legend".We are all the poorer without such characters in the game and all the richer for seeing this man make the impossible, Vardy has left the City Football Club... completed it, more from Kate Blakemore at Leicester Till I Die, external

'Full throttle' and 'Skittles vodka'
Few could have envisaged the impact Jamie Vardy would make at the King Power Stadium, especially after five goals in his first season in the Championship. "He was always joking and always full throttle in everything he did," said former team-mate Mark Schwarzer. "Nobody saw what Leicester was going to do [winning the league in 2016]. When he first signed, apparently when he turned up he was terrible at training. "His touch was horrendous, it was all over the place, and they all thought 'what have we just signed?'. "Then he went away in the summer and really worked on his game. Apparently he was a different player when he returned back in that 2015-16 season." Vardy put that improvement down to small changes. Before games, throughout the day, he started drinking three cans of Red Bull and a double espresso and eating a cheese and ham omelette with baked beans. He also drank port from a Lucozade bottle the evening before matches during the 2015-16 season - having stopped with the Skittles vodka which was a previous favourite tipple and involved dissolving the sweets in the alcohol. It helped him score 24 goals to win Leicester the league, and he went on to earn the Premier League's Golden Boot in 2019–20, becoming the oldest player to lift the award. Title-winning Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri described Vardy as "a fantastic horse" back in 2016 as the Foxes closed in on the Premier League. The veteran may not be a thoroughbred any more but he has been synonymous with Leicester's rise - and fall - as their last title winner to leave the King Power Stadium. It was the end of an era and Leicester must find a new talisman. They will never find someone quite like Vardy again. Read Nick's full piece on Vardy
