Vijay Mallya net worth: How former RCB owner and Kingfisher kingpin saw his wealth rising from $750 million to…
Kingfisher Airlines owner Vijay Mallya, who once ran a business empire worth millions saw his net worth dwindling in the recent years. After taking up the role of United Breweries Group chairman at the age of 28, the liquor baron expanded into various sectors, including aviation, beverages, and real estate. Known as the 'King of Good Times," the journey of the successful businessman to a fugitive has been full of controversies. As per Forbes, his estimated net worth stood around $750 million in 2013. Meanwhile, Vijay Mallya's latest net worth report dates back to July 2022, when it was estimated to be around $1.2 billion, according to the Independent UK. Vijay Mallya reportedly owns a penthouse in New York's Trump Plaza, United States, which was purchased for $2.4 million in 2010. Besides this, he owns three luxury condos in the same building, according to IndiaToday. Two of these luxury condos were purchased jointly with his daughter. In addition to this, he owns the Le Grande Jardin estate in France which is located on the Island of Sainte-Marguerite, near Cannes. In 2012, Kingfisher Airlines encountered extreme financial troubles due to mounting debts and financial issues. Vijay Mallya blamed the 2008 global financial crisis for triggering the financial ruin. Embroiled in a long legal battle with lenders and the Indian authorities, Vijay Mallya recently revealed that he's willing to return to India provided he gets a fair trial. He flew to UK in 2016 after being accused in a bank loan default case of over ₹ 9,000 crore. In the following year, the Supreme Court found Vijay Mallya guilty in a case linked to the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines. He was found guilty of transferring $40m to his children and was sentenced to four months jail term. A fine of ₹ 2,000 (£21) for a 2017 contempt of court case accompanied the punishment. Indian government applied for his extradition in 2017, but the 69-year-old businessman continues to deny any wrongdoing and has been fighting extradition in the courts ever since. To prove his innocence, Vijay Mallya in a recent podcast with Raj Shamani said, 'You may call me a fugitive for not going to India post March, but I didn't run away. I flew on a prescheduled visit. Fair enough, I didn't return for reasons that I consider are valid… so if you want to call me a fugitive, go ahead. But where is the 'chor' (thief) coming from? Where is the 'chori' (theft)?'

‘King of the Hill' actor killed in shooting
Jonathan Joss, 59, who voiced the character John Redcorn in the animated series 'King of the Hill,' was shot and killed over the weekend in San Antonio, Texas. On Sunday at around 7 p.m., police responded to a shooting in progress on Dorsey Drive, located in the southern part of the city. When officers arrived, they found Joss near the roadway, local police told KTLA 5. 'The officers attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased,' police said in a statement. Officers later detained 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja and have booked and charged him for murder. 'Preliminary information suggests that there was an argument that took place between Ceja and Joss, which escalated and shots were fired,' police said. Ceja is believed to live in the area, but law enforcement officials couldn't confirm if he and Joss were neighbors. TMZ was the first to report the death and said a neighbor pulled the trigger following a dispute. The suspect reportedly fired at Joss and then fled the scene in his car. On Monday afternoon, Joss's partner Tristan Kern de Gonzales gave more details. 'My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done,' de Gonzales posted on Facebook Monday afternoon. His partner said the couple was regularly harassed by people who 'made it clear' they didn't accept their relationship. 'Much of the harassment was openly homophobic,' de Gonzales explained. When the couple went back to their burned down home to check the mail, they found the skull and harness from one of their dogs. 'This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw,' the post continued. 'While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.' TMZ did say witnesses told them that Joss was 'distraught' after seeing the skull and was yelling at anyone who passed him in the area. The actor's partner said the two didn't have any weapons and weren't threatening anyone. 'We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life,' de Gonzales said. He explained that the couple got married this past Valentine's Day and were planning their future looking for a trailer together. 'He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other,' de Gonzales claimed. 'I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved.' Now, he is focusing on protecting Joss's legacy and honoring the life they were building together. 'Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built,' he concluded. Joss worked on 'King of the Hill' from Season 2 to 13, replacing the original voice actor Victor Aaron, who passed away in a car accident in 1996. The series aired on Fox from 1997 to 2009 and was created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. It follows the family and friends of Hank Hill who live in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas.
