Eat Your Movie Popcorn Out of Jaws' Head, but the $45 Price Will Chomp Your Wallet

Movie theaters have been elevating their snacking experiences with collectible popcorn buckets for several years now, but one of the summer offerings will take a bloody bite out of your budget. Theater chain Alamo Drafthouse is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jaws with a limited-edition shark-shaped popcorn bucket, measuring 11 inches and costing a whopping $45. The Jaws bucket is currently sold out online, but interested buyers with a lot of cash can sign up to be notified when its restocked. It's one of the better buckets in recent years, featuring Jaws' famed Bruce the great white shark with his, uh, jaws, wide open, and a place for popcorn right where the little Kintner boy ends up in the film. Spoiler if you haven't seen a movie from 1975, I guess. Read more: Best Live TV Streaming Services of 2025 AMC Theatres Specialty popcorn buckets began in 2019 and soon proved to be big business. Not only do these speciality merch items serve as tangible memories of beloved films and events, but they are proving to be crucial for revenue. AMC Entertainment racked in just about $65 million in revenue last year thanks to novelty popcorn buckets, drink sippers and T-shirts. You may remember the Taylor Swift-themed popcorn buckets available during the 2023 theatrical release of The Eras Tour movie, or the viral Sandworm Popcorn Vessel in honor of 2024's Dune: Part Two. Now, studios and theaters are eager to keep the trend going with upcoming summer blockbusters. This summer, be on the lookout for several more collection-worthy popcorn buckets. Marvel's newest release, Thunderbolts, is playing in theaters -- and it arrived with three new collectible popcorn buckets. In addition, new buckets were recently unveiled for the May 23 premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, the June 13 release of How to Train Your Dragon. As far as the Jaws 50th anniversary goes, Alamo Drafthouse is also hosting special screenings, including Jaws on the Water events in Austin, Tex., home to the theater chain, and Martha's Vineyard, Mass., where Jaws was originally shot. Similarly, Universal Studios, the studio behind Jaws, is marking the milestone with exclusive merchandise, such as shark-themed drinking cups and apparel, available at their parks. Jaws will be streaming on Peacock starting June 15 and will return to theaters nationwide from Aug. 29-Sept. 4.

Vestal Police update residents on crime in the town

VESTAL, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The Vestal Police Department gave a presentation to town residents, updating them on crime analytics and trends over the past year. The department called the event a Community Roll Call, and was led by police chief, Stace Kintner. Kintner went through slide show, detailing the trends of local crime and the department's response to it. Such as how over 20% more motor vehicle accidents occur in the town when Binghamton University is in session. The overall number of calls for service continues to increase year after year, this year, the agency received over 19,300 calls. Kintner encouraged residents to download the app Crime Watch and search for Vestal Police, to stay up to date on the agency's announcements. 'Traditionally, there's been a hesitation to really share with people what's going on. Cause you obviously don't want to increase concerns. I look at it in the opposite end. Like, I look at it as, I'm going to tell you what's going on. I'm going to tell you how we're combating it right,' says Kintner. Kintner says he's proud that the department currently has 43 officers, which is the most its ever had. UHS raises awareness for women's heart health

VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Across the country, people are wearing red today to draw attention to women's heart health. Friday is National Wear Red Day dedicated to the prevention and treatment of heart disease among women. UHS Faculty and staff held a news conference and turned the UHS main lobby into a sea of red this morning. One speaker, Ms. Kintner, received a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement procedure at UHS, also known as TAVR, and says she no longer feels like there is an elephant sitting on her chest. The Vice President of Development at the American Heart Association, Jami Wood says women are less likely to receive life-saving CPR than men. 'Some people are afraid of hurting a woman when performing CPR or they have a misconception that it's harder to perform on a woman. But we can close that gender gap by getting as many people familiar with CPR as possible. If you see a teen or an adult collapse, one, you're going to call 911 and two, you're going to push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help can arrive,' said Wood. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women in the U.S. even more than all forms of cancer combined. During the news conference, UHS and the Heart Association donated CPR training kits to local school districts and non-profits. Wood says you can be certified in hands only CPR as early as 9 years old. AmarA*JK presents 'Where Are We Going and Why Am I In This Basket?' Where do your taxes go in Binghamton?
