Where Wisconsin basketball signee Zach Kinziger ranks in latest ESPN100 for class of 2025
Where Wisconsin basketball signee Zach Kinziger ranks in latest ESPN100 for class of 2025 Wisconsin basketball class of 2025 signee Zach Kinziger now sits at No. 73 in the latest ESPN100 rankings. Headlined by star recruits A.J. Dybantsa (BYU), Darryn Peterson (Kansas) and Cameron Boozer (Duke), the ESPN100 ranks the top players in the nation. Kinziger, who held the No. 71 spot in late January, fell two spots in Paul Biancardi's final installation of the player hierarchy. Kinziger signed his letter of intent with the Badgers back on Nov. 13. He is fresh off being named the Fox River Classic Conference Player of the Year and a member of the First-Team All-Conference and All-Defensive teams for his contributions throughout the 2024-25 season at De Pere High School. With Kinziger at the helm, the Redbirds went 26-2 (18-0 in-conference) during the recent season, including a 23-game win streak dating back to Dec. 21, 2024. In 26 games, the star guard averaged 24.4 points on 51.0% shooting from the field and 36.2% from deep. He also registered 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals in 30.9 minutes per appearance. Those tallies follow a junior season during which Kinziger was responsible for 19.9 points on 49.9% shooting from the field and 42.5% from beyond the arc. 247Sports lists the four-star shooting guard as the No. 88 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 13 at his position and the No. 3 recruit from the state of Wisconsin. He headlines a Badgers class of 2025 that also features three-star center Will Garlock and international shooting guard Hayden Jones (New Zealand). Wisconsin has also secured transfer commitments from former Portland forward Austin Rapp, San Diego State guard Nick Boyd and Virginia guard Andrew Rhode. With the departures of star John Tonje, starters Steven Crowl and Max Klesmit, and role players Kamari McGee and Carter Gilmore, all three transfer additions should make an instant impact during the 2025 slate. Kinziger may not see many minutes this fall, but his development in UW's pipeline is one to monitor. His size and scoring ability make him an interesting prospect at his position. The Badgers should prioritize his future with the program. ISU sophomores Kinziger, Pence to return
NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Illinois State's basketball program received good news on Wednesday. Sophomores Johnny Kinziger and Ty Pence are staying home. They both announced they will return to ISU for their junior seasons. 'The chemistry that I have with the guys this year, all these guys are coming back. I really think we can do something special. I want to be part of that,' Kinziger said Wednesday night at halftime of the women's basketball game at CEFCU Arena. The 5-11 guard started all 35 games as was second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points and 3.9 rebounds for ISU. The Redbirds closed the season by winning the College Basketball Invitational title last week. 'I love each and every one of these guys, I mean that. Coach (Ryan Pedon) says it every day, 'You win with people.' I just think the people in this community are the best. That's why I said all along I'm very happy,' Kinziger said. Pence had a big sophomore season after struggling as a sophomore. He averaged 7.4 points and 4.0 points and was named to the CBI all-tournament team. 'This is always the place where I've wanted to be. We have something great building. It really is the whole family aspect here,' said Pence. 'Our seniors talked to the younger guys at the end of the year, they just talked to us and said there really isn't any other place like this.' The Redbirds went 22-14 in Pedon's third season, winning the first postseason title in program history. Sophomore Chase Walker, a first team all-Missouri Valley Conference selection, announced his return last month. Freshman Jack Daughtery announced on Tuesday that he would return for his second year with the program. 'I'm so proud of our players, individually and collectively. They see something they really believe in. They come together and want to stay and be a part of something special,' said Pedon. 'To me, that's the essence of team.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
