Senior cop resigns, cites disillusionment with system

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Admin Imran Kishwar has resigned from service, citing deep-seated disillusionment with the system and frustration over internal conflicts within the Punjab Police. In his strongly worded resignation letter, Kishwar expressed disappointment over recent structural changes, particularly the formation of the new Crime Control Department (CCD), which reportedly unsettled the police hierarchy. While no senior officer had openly objected to the move, his resignation hints at underlying tensions within the force. Kishwar, who previously led the now-dissolved Organised Crime Unit (OCU), had also served in key positions, including SSP Investigation Lahore and DIG Investigation Lahore, as well as commanding roles in Kasur, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Muzaffargarh. Additionally, he was the head of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the May 9th cases. In his resignation, he described his years of service as coming at a "great personal cost" and said he was left grappling with "unanswered questions." He hinted at feeling unappreciated and betrayed, writing, "Loyalty, when met with indifference or betrayal, ceases to be an obligation." Marking a sharp career shift, the outgoing DIG announced his decision to transition from law enforcement to writing, stating, "My passion for writing now demands its due, and I shall surrender to it with the same conviction I once dedicated to this uniform." The Punjab Police leadership has yet to comment on Kishwar's resignation, but sources suggest that several senior officers were uneasy about the CCD's formation. His departure may now bring those concerns into the open. His resignation stands as a rare instance of a high-ranking officer publicly voicing dissatisfaction with the internal workings of the police force.
