Fuziah set to officiate PKR Youth, Wanita congress
PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said her officiating speech would focus on PKR's direction and efforts to strengthen the party. PETALING JAYA : PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh has confirmed that she will officiate the party's Youth and Wanita congress in Johor Bahru tomorrow. This comes after PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli broke tradition and declined to attend the two events, citing principles over politics. According to Berita Harian, Fuziah said she had been entrusted with the responsibility and had accepted it. Fuziah said her officiating speech would focus on PKR's direction and efforts to strengthen the party following the conclusion of the central leadership council elections. She added that she would also highlight the vital role of the PKR Youth and Wanita wings in strengthening the party through a shared sense of purpose. 'I will touch on this year's congress theme, 'Kita Keadilan', so that it becomes the guiding spirit and principle for the wings' members, emphasising unity and the importance of regrouping after the central leadership elections. 'The party's strengthening process, as carried out during the pre-congress tour, must continue to rebuild internal ties and prepare us for the 16th general election,' she said. On Monday, Rafizi said his decision to skip the Youth and Wanita congress stemmed from a breach of party protocol after the Sabah PKR election machinery launch was allegedly announced without prior discussion by the party's political bureau or central leadership council. He claimed there was no meeting to discuss the matter, nor any official notice — only a poster announcing that PKR vice-presidents Nurul Izzah Anwar and Amirudin Shari would launch the election campaign at the same date and time as his countrywide tour, and that this had come without warning. Media reports have confirmed that Nurul Izzah and Amirudin were in Sabah to launch the PKR machinery for the state chapter. Rafizi said the move placed grassroots leaders in a dilemma and exposed serious communication gaps within the party leadership.
