Binghamton man sentenced for threatening victim from jail
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man is headed to New York State prison after being convicted of threatening a victim.
Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Daniel Klenchik, 37, pleaded guilty to Tampering with a Witness in the Third Degree.
Klenchik, while incarcerated at the Broome County Jail, made a threatening video phone call to intimidate a victim involved in his pending criminal case.
Klenchik will be sentenced to 2 to 4 years in New York State Prison on July 18.
'This guilty plea is the result of collaborative policing and the strong innovative investigativetools being utilized in Broome County,' said Battisti. 'No matter where you are, if you commit a crime, you will be prosecuted, and victims will receive justice. I commend the professional and targeted work by the Broome County Correctional Facility Criminal Investigation and Gang Intelligence Unit who made the arrest in this case.'
