Former £3.5m Celtic star makes history as he completes shock transfer to FOURTH continent of his career

From swapping Europe for North America to enjoying a stint in Australia via Europe again, he's certainly been around the block throughout his career. Former Celtic forward Patryk Klimala, 26, is on the move once again as he's joined the TENTH club of his career despite his young age. The Polish striker was signed by Neil Lennon for £3.5million in January 2020 but he didn't even last 18 months in Scotland after a rather forgettable spell. He scored just three goals in 28 appearances for Celtic before being shipped out to the States when New York Red Bulls fancied him in 2021. After two seasons there he was back in Europe - in Israel this time - when Hapoel Be'er Sheva snapped him up. That was in January 2023 and since then he has been back in his homeland with Slask Wroclaw and most recently in the A-League with Sydney FC - scoring 17 goals in 31 appearances for the latter. He enjoyed the most prolific spell of his career in Australia and will be hoping to continue that red hot form at his new club - where he will link up with another former Celtic player. Klimala's latest team is FC Seoul in South Korea after the club confirmed the news to fans last night. It's a deal that makes history as Klimala becomes the first Polish footballer to ever play for the club. But he's far from the biggest name at the six-time K League 1 champions. South Korea legend Kim Jin-su is at the club along with former Celtic midfielder Ki Sung-yueng, who has been capped 110 times for his national team. But neither is captain as it's former Manchester United and West Ham star Jesse Lingard who holds that responsibility. Seoul haven't won the league title since 2016 despite their household names, however they will hope the arrival of in-form Klimala will change things next season. Sky Blues on verge of semi-final berth
Goal-scoring hero Patryk Klimala has stressed Sydney FC still has a 'lot to do' despite taking a significant step towards an AFC Champions League Two semi-final berth with a 2-0 away win over South Korean club Jeonbuk. Polish marksman Klimala netted both of Sydney's goals in Thursday night's quarter-final first-leg clash at Yongin Mireu Stadium. The teams will meet again in next Thursday's second leg at Allianz Stadium. 'I was delighted to help the team with two goals but we have a lot to do yet,' Klimala said. 'We have one game left, and it's not done yet. 'Our confidence is still the same as (it was) before this game. We just need to go back, reset and prepare for the second leg.' Two fine finishes giving us a two goal lead into the second leg ✌️#WeAreSydney | # — Sydney FC (@SydneyFC) March 6, 2025 Klimala, who scored in each half, was pleased with the success of Sydney's pressing tactics. 'Even when we scored we didn't go back. We still pressed and that was the reason Jeonbuk couldn't play through us,' he said. Sky Blues coach Ufuk Talay said his side 'capitalised on a very good moment'. 'Playing against a strong side, I thought we performed well,' Talay said. 'We were good with the ball and, at times, very solid defensively. 'It wasn't an easy game. Playing away against a team like Jeonbuk is always tough, so to come away with a 2-0 win, I'm very pleased with the performance of the players.' The Sky Blues don't have an A-League game this weekend, allowing them to focus on their preparations for the visit of Jeonbuk, who are coached by former Chelsea and Tottenham star Gus Poyet.
