Cotter's Headleys Trump and Kennelly's Oreo Ollie the best of the A3 550 first round heat winners
Other sweepstake action last Friday at Tralee saw the James O'Regan-trained Woodcliff Kaboom establish himself as the clear favourite to win a novice 3 525 sweepstake
First round form worked out really well in three of the four second-round heats of the Lee Strand A3 550 Sweepstake at Tralee Track last Friday night and it could well be that Knocknagoshel owner, Nick E Cotter, will be the one collecting the magnificent winner's purse of €10,000 come final night.
That's because his charge, Headleys Trump, which is an April '23 son of Coolavanny Hoffa and Mercenary Mary, clocked the fastest time of 29.72 in winning heat 4 at odds of 4/5. Mind you, he only beat flying finisher, Killacolla Hill, by a neck, but his early pace is more than impressive. Although he meets another very good second-round winner in the Jack Kennelly-trained Oreo Ollie, Headleys Trump has the early pace to get himself into the strongest of winning position from trap 3 in the first semi-final.
