KNOW Theatre presenting Stephen King's ‘Misery'

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A famous story of obsession, survival, and psychological terror is coming to KNOW Theatre. William Goldman's 'Misery' is opening on Friday. Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, Misery follows romance writer Paul Sheldon who is rescued from a car crash by his 'number one fan', Annie Wilkins. Annie holds Paul hostage, forcing him to write a novel avenging her favorite character who he had killed off. With themes of torture and manipulation that will have you on the edge of your seat, Paul is forced to fight for his life and write the greatest novel of his career. Director Jeff Tagliaferro says KNOW Theatre is known for presenting dark storylines that make us look within ourselves. He says this play does exactly that. 'For me personally, that's the kind of art I seek out, that kind of unveils the darker side of us that we all have. It helps us overcome it by facing it, being challenged by it. And I think Misery does that,' said Tagliaferro. Tagliaferro says the cast has worked very hard to bring a new perspective to their characters, making the show a must see even if you already know the story. Misery opens on Friday and will run for three weekends. Showtimes are at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Tickets start at $15. There will also be a pay-what-you-can performance on Thursday, February 13.
