Intro session for course which can improve driving and cheapen insurance next week
A course which can improve driving, cheapen insurance and lessen wear on your car is holding an introductory session next week.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), or IAM RoadSmart, was founded in 1956 to improve driving standards and enhance road safety.
Going to this day, it offers courses that will save drivers fuel, lessen wear and tear on their cars and even potentially save money on their insurance.
The Bolton and District group will soon be beginning its May course, with a fresh course each quarter.
Next Thursday, May 8, its free introductory evening will be held at Lostock Parish Centre in Tempest Road from 7pm.
The presentation will explain the Advanced Driver Course, what you can expect from the Bolton group and what they expect from their learners.
The course is £204, which covers the costs of an IAM RoadSmart logbook, copies of the Highway Code and "Know Your Traffic Signs", as well as at least 15 hours of one-to-one guidance in your own car over 10 to 12 weeks - there are no additional costs for learners who require more guidance.

It also covers the RoadSmart test fee and associate membership of the Bolton and District group.
Chairman, Roy Sammons, said: "The course is a great opportunity for people, both young and old, to improve their driving skills.
"Those who take the course enjoy it and learn a lot, and we will give you a great insight into it during the introductory session."
Practical sessions take place every Sunday, which would start on May 18, following a classroom session at Bolton Arena on May 11.
Learners will meet at the University of Greater Manchester in Bolton at 9.45am for the sessions, before driving their own vehicle with a qualified observer giving advice and guidance.
