Kobe Tabuga erupts for 32 as Perpetual overcomes San Beda to close NCAA Season 100 run
NCAA The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA overcame San Beda University, 16-25, 30-28, 25-27, 25-22, 15-12, to close out its campaign in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament on Wednesday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan. Kobe Brian Taguba erupted for 32 points from 28 attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while Jeff Marapoc had 22 points to go with 22 receptions as the ALTAs finished with a 10-8 record. John Castil, meanwhile, added 16 points. Dominic Castaneda, meanwhile, had 24 out of San Beda's 25 excellent sets as six players scored in double digits for the Red Spikers. Greg Munsing top-scored the team with 16 points, while Raniel John Ignacio, Ryan Rosman, and Alsenal Miljani had 12 points apiece. Axel Van Book had 11 points, while Anrie Bakil had 10 points. Perpetual outlasts JRU to remain in Final Four race
NCAA The University of Perpetual Help System DALTA outlasted Jose Rizal University, 24-26, 25-18, 27-29, 25-22, 15-12, in the NCAA Season 100 men's volleyball tournament on Friday at the Filoil Centre in San Juan. With the victory, the ALTAs remained in the hunt for a Final Four slot as they improved to 9-7, while the gritty Heavy Bombers moved to 3-14. As both teams tried to claim the win, the fifth set happened to also be a tight one with JRU and Perpetual tied at 12 before the ALTAs made the late rally. Blocks were crucial in the final stretch as it eventually sealed the victory for Perpetual. Kobe Brian Taguba and Jeff Marapoc led the Las Piñas crew with the former having 26 points from 19 attacks, six blocks, and an ace, while the latter had 22 points from 21 attacks and an ace, to go with 17 receptions and 11 digs. Kirth Patrick Rosos added 14 points, while John Lituania had 19 excellent sets. Paolo Barrientos had 22 points anchored built on 19 attacks, two blocks, and an ace, while Harry Ocay had 21 points for JRU. Klause Dais had 23 excellent sets as Matthew Malilin and Jake Fernandez chipped in 16 and 10 points, respectively. Perpetual's next games are crucial for their five-peat hopes as they will take on contenders De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Sunday and San Beda University on Wednesday.
