Ellie Kemper Opens up About the Joy of Accepting Help From Mom Friends: 'You're Not Alone'
Ellie Kemper wants other moms to know that it's ok to accept help from your village.
The Office and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star, who is mom to sons James, 8, and Matthew, 5, with her husband, writer Michael Koman opened up to SheKnows about how learning to lean into her community helped her prioritize wellness as a mom.

'It is very important to stay grounded,' Kemper told us during Kohl's Evening with Ellie! dinner in celebration of Kemper's most loved role yet, being a Kohl's mom. 'I would say one habit that I really lean into is leaning on my mom friends. I think that it takes a village to get this done. It's nice to know that you're not alone, that you have a family, a team, there with you.'
'I have to remind you that Kohl's mom is also there for you,' she says of her role with the brand, playing Kohl's Mom who champions busy moms who value trend, quality, and affordability in the way they shop. 'So it's very nice to feel supported in that way,' Kemper adds.
Later in the evening, during a Q&A, Kemper opened up more about how surprised she was to find that being dependant on others enhanced her journey as a mom. 'I used to be, like, really intense. I can do this by myself. I can get this done, but you can't,' she said. 'I think you learn to accept help. It takes a village so let your village help you.'
'It's, frankly, another like I love about Kohl's mom because that's the idea. [She's like] 'I'm here for you, you need to lean on one another.'
