Speaker Khader takes stock of rain situation from Medina

1 2 Mangaluru: Assembly speaker UT Khader, who is on haj pilgrimage, directed officials of Dakshina Kannada to take necessary precautions and conduct rescue operations. Khader stated that he discussed precautionary measures and necessary rescue operations with district officials, instructing them to prepare NDRF and other rescue teams. "Due to heavy rains in Dakshina Kannada district, landslides in various areas of Ullal taluk resulted in loss of lives. Receiving information, I instructed district officials to take necessary precautions. The district is experiencing widespread rainfall, leading to landslides and loss of life in Belma and Manjanady villages of Ullal taluk. In the Ullal City Municipality area, water entered homes in low-lying areas due to artificial flooding, causing property damage," he said. He held discussions with district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda, bringing the issue to their attention. "Compensation for the families of the deceased and those who suffered property damage will be provided based on reports, and a special officer will be appointed to oversee the situation in Dakshina Kannada. I am in constant contact with representatives of each village and local panchayat, receiving updates and discussing rescue efforts," Khader said. Additional district officials, tahsildars, and other authorities are stationed at the sites where landslides and other natural calamities were reported. Local representatives, office bearers of organisations, and officials from all departments have been instructed to cooperate with the public, who are also urged to remain vigilant, he added. Prayers offered for slain Rahiman Khader said a special prayer was offered at Al-Quba, the first mosque of Islam in the holy city of Medina, led by the esteemed Khaleel Tangal, for the spiritual victory of Abdul Rahiman, the secretary of Kolthmajalu Mosque and SKSSF activist, who fell victim to the atrocities of communal hooligans.
