Mass. driver accused of assaulting NH troopers
Feb. 13—A 28-year-old Weston, Mass., man was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly striking two state troopers during a brief roadside struggle on Interstate 93 in Concord, State Police said.
Mugil Malai's 2011 Honda Civic was pulled over on the left side of I-93 around 12:30 a.m. when Trooper Peter Kosakowski attempted to speak with him.
"Malai, whose driver's side door had been open, immediately closed and locked the door. He then attempted but failed to start the vehicle. Malai then got out of the Honda, charged and struck Trooper Kosakowski in the head," police said in a news release.
Malai also struck Trooper Morgan Butcher, who arrived on the scene to assist, police said. Malai was charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.
Kosakowski and Butcher were treated for minor injuries at Concord Hospital.
