Kota Kinabalu: Making a comeback, Evanatie Sannie, was crowned City Hall Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan queen at Imago Shopping Mall, here, Saturday. Evanatie was previously crowned Kota Marudu Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan in 2022 and won sixth place in the State-level that year. The 24-year-old businesswoman from Kampung Batutan, Kota Marudu took home RM12,000, a crown and trophy. She will be representing City Hall in the State Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan event. She was crowned by last year's City Hall Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan queen, Nurul Yanadido. Meanwhile, Cherub Sharleena Cassdey won second place will be representing KDCA Tanjung Aru while Nelumui Muhari who was second runner-up will be representing KDCA Bandaraya. The first runner-up won RM8,000 while the third place bagged RM6,000. Advertisement The 2025 DBKK Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan Grand Final was officiated by the State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew. Earlier in her speech, Liew said the Kaamatan celebration displays the solidity of Sabahans – that comprise of diverse community – that chooses to celebrate their differences as strength and not a hindrance. She said that the existing mutual cooperation, respect and acceptance among Sabahans makes the State (even more) unique and admired, whether among Malaysians or internationally. 'As Sabah's Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment, I see Kaamatan not only as heritage, but also as a cultural economic resource, which opens up opportunities for artists, creative communities, local entrepreneurs and heritage practitioners,' she added.
