When he was only nine years old, the 'Headlights' singer's father passed away from kidney cancer, leaving him and his siblings to be raised by their mum, who resorted to alcoholism to cope with the loss of her husband. 'I wanted to be a singer since I was a kid and my dad bought me my first guitar,' says Warren. 'Funnily enough, I didn't start writing until he passed. Music became an outlet for me to process my trauma,' Warren said in an interview with Variety in May. When he was 18 years old, Warren's mother kicked him out of the house, forcing him to sleep in friends' cars but never their houses because his mum had convinced their parents that Warren was a troublemaker, per an interview he gave the BBC in March.
