Victor, Aquinas, Thomas, BND United win hockey quarterfinal games
Oliver Kowall scored a hat-trick to lift the Blue Devils past their rivals.
Kowall scored Victor's first two goals, one in the first period and one in the second. The latter was set out by an impressive pass by Ian Kloiber from his own red line.
Christian Stasko got Canandaigua on the board early in the third period, but Eli Weingart answered less than a minute later to make it 3-1. Kowall added an empty netter with just under two minutes to play to make it a 4-1 final.
Victor (15-5-1) advances to the semifinals where they will play Aquinas. The win ended a slump for the Blue Devils, who in their last five regular season games had four losses and a tie.
Victor and Aquinas met in the regular season finale with the Li'l Irish winning 6-1. The game will be on Wednesday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Rochester Ice Center.
Mikey Dossier and Ares Miller each scored two goals to give Aquinas a thrilling win in the quarterfinals.
Aquinas led 3-2 with 6:22 to play in the third period when Cam Hall scored for Thomas to tie it at 3.
It took the Li'l Irish just seven seconds to answer as Miller fired in a wrister for the game-winning goal.
Dossier scored AQ's first two goals while Miller scored their third and fourth goals. Ryan Carmody added an insurance goal with 2:09 to play.
Aquinas (16-5) will take a nine-game winning streak into their semifinal matchup with Victor. The Li'l Irish beat Victor 6-1 in their regular-season finale. The game will be on Wednesday, February 26th at 7:00 p.m. at Rochester Ice Center.
Jake Sansoucie netted a hat-trick for the Warriors who scored early and often to reach the semifinals.
The Warriors netted two goals in the first period, then scored the first three of the second period to take a commanding five-goal lead.
Irondequoit got one back in the final minutes of the third, but Schroeder was able to add another to make it a 6-1 final.
Sansoucie added an assist to go along with his three goals. Nico Schouten, Scott Wagner, and Nick Scott scored the other goals for Schroeder. Connor Scott tallied a pair of assists.
Schroeder (15-6) will play BND United in the semis. The two teams met early in the season, with Schroeder winning 2-1 on December 13th.
The semifinal game will be played on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:00 p.m. at McCarthy Memorial Ice Arena.
BND United scored four goals in the first period as they began their defense of their Class B title.
Churchville-Chili's Anthony Indiano scored the only goal of the second period, but BND scored four more in the third to put the game away.
BND United (13-5-3) will host Schroeder in the semifinals. The game will be played on Wednesday, February 26th at 6:00 p.m. at McCarthy Memorial Ice Arena.
