BBC Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall reunites with Love Actually co-star in new series

Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has opened up on an unexpected reunion with his Love Actually co-star in the upcoming series of the hit detective drama. Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall has whipped up excitement amongst his followers by teasing a delightful on-set reunion with an old Love Actually cast mate in the incoming series. Whilst previewing the brand new instalments of Beyond Paradise down under, the actor playing the affable lead detective revealed this tantalising nugget during an interview. ‌ Jubilantly speaking on The Project last Sunday, Marshall unveiled that Abdul Salis - who portrayed his close companion Tony in Love Actually - has graced the enigmatic show with a special appearance, reports the Mirror. ‌ The 52-year-old celebrity was visibly thrilled about encountering Salis anew, despite it being more than two decades since they last acted together. "I had only seen him once in 24 years," he disclosed with sense of wistfulness. Contemplating the fortuitous twists often found in acting careers, he reflected poetically: "It's a beautiful thing about being an actor. You pick up where you left off. It's kind of symbiotic. I love it." With unmistakable glee about rekindling camaraderie with a former colleague, Marshall added: "So, he came in and did a guest thing and we're all a bit older and, you know, we're not very much wiser. We're all good." Although tight-lipped regarding the intricacies of Salis's role, Marshall couldn't help but insinuate, possibly exonerating Abdul's character from any foul play. With a suggestive tone, he began: "I don't think he's..." before giving himself to laughter, ensuring audiences stay in the dark for what Wales Online describes as a cheeky manoeuvre to avoid spoilers. Abdul has certainly left his mark, having portrayed paramedic Curtis Cooper on 'Casualty', and gracing screens with roles in renowned series such as 'Doctor Who', 'Father Brown', and most recently adding 'The Wheel of Time' to his burgeoning filmography. ‌ Kris and Sally Breton have recently offered insights into their new series, drawing from their real-life parenting to mirror the foster care experiences of their characters. While unpacking the intricacies of DI Humphrey Goodman and Martha Lloyd's foray into foster care, Kris revealed to HELLO!: "Parenting is often three steps forward, two steps back, and when you think you're winning, the rug gets pulled out from underneath you." ‌ ‌ Sally echoed those complexities by sharing reflections from her own life: "I understood getting it wrong. I understand thinking right, I'm getting somewhere, and then the next day, there's a new problem or another worry you've got on the shelf." She elaborated on the perpetual challenges of parenting, stating: "I understand that you never get to a point where you think: 'I've got this', and then absolutely haven't. And that is parenting in my experience." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. 'I own Beyond Paradise's Ten Mile Kitchen and not all locals are happy about it'

BBC Deayj in Paradise spin-off Beyond Paradise has proed a hit with viewers and now the celebrity chef who owns the restaurant featured has spoken out The BBC's Death in Paradise and its UK-based spin-off, Beyond Paradise have captured the nation, with filming in Looe, Cornwall. Kris Marshall reprises his role as Humphrey Goodman from the original series, now leading a new troop of detectives in the quaint town of Shipton Abbott. The hit show delves into his personal life too, depicting his relationship with his fiancée, Martha Lloyd (played by Sally Bretton), who's recently launched The Ten Mile Kitchen. ‌ Yet, the real-life backdrop to this on-screen eatery is actually 2024 Great British Menu winner Ben Palmer's highly-regarded establishment, The Sardine Factory. ‌ Ben shared insights with the Daily Express regarding his restaurant's newfound fame as a viewer favourite and the contrasting opinions among locals witnessing its escalating renown. Since the third series of Beyond Paradise showcased it, the Sardine Factory has seen an astonishing hike in interest – its bookings shot up to 245, scaling a peak from a modest 45 the previous week, marking an eye-opening leap by 444%. While the surge spells great news for Ben's venture, not all residents are thrilled. Ben conceded: "You know you get a lot of kickback from a lot of locals saying, we don't want more people coming to town, but you know what it's so important to bring tourism to the restaurant business, we rely on it," reports the Express. Despite a mixed reception, Ben disclosed that many locals are enthused about the new attraction, saying: "As locals, we were all really proud when we saw our beautiful kind of hometown on the telly, it was really kind of cool, and everybody was kind of asking, 'where is this beautiful place?'" ‌ He added: "You know, we're incredibly lucky. It kind of gives you a sense of feeling like we're really proud that this is our hometown, and it just showcases it, making you realise how beautiful it is as well. "It's a lovely place, but then when you come to see it, you think, 'my God, it is actually,' we're very lucky. It's a very beautiful place, and then everybody wants to come and visit where they saw on TV, which was really cool." Ben even confessed his surprise at not realising the show Beyond Paradise's popularity, stating: "I never kind of really watched it, and then obviously I thought, you know, it's in my own town and stuff, you might catch a glimpse of someone you know. I started to watch it and, you know what? It's pretty good." In a bid to revitalise the area, Ben launched his restaurant in 2018, alongside the introduction of a museum for the town. Named 'The Sardine Factory', the restaurant honours its history as a former sardine processing plant.

Kris Marshall reveals which Love Actually co-star is joining the cast of his hit BBC series Beyond Paradise - and shares how viewers can guess the killer in every episode

Kris Marshall is in Australia promoting the new season of hit BBC series Beyond Paradise. And the British actor, who stars in Beyond Paradise, says a familiar face is set to crop up on the murder mystery show. Marshall, who rose to fame in the 2003 film Love Actually, says his co-star Abdul Salis, who played his best mate Tony in the comedy, will soon appear in Beyond Paradise. 'I had only seen him once in 24 years' the 52-year-old said on Sunday's episode of The Project. 'It's a beautiful thing about being an actor. You pick up where you left off. It's kind of symbiotic. I love it. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'So, he came in and did a guest thing and we're all a bit older and, you know, we're not very much wiser. We're all good.' Marshall appeared to hint that Salis won't be the killer in the episode, but stopped himself before giving a little too much away. 'I don't think he's... I'm not going to give any spoilers!' he said with a laugh. Marshall also gave audiences for the mystery murder series, which streams on BritBox Down Under, a major clue on how to crack each case. He joked that viewers tend to guess who the killer is each episode before his character, bumbling Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman, manages to do so - and there is a surefire way to work out whodunnit. 'When I first started, I used this thing I called the Scooby Doo algorithm - it's always the second person they meet' he said, but conceded, 'some are more complex.' 'It taught me our audiences are better at solving the crimes than I am. That is weird. I literally have the scripts... I'm absolutely awful at it' he said. Marshall played Detective Goodman first in the hit BBC series Death in Paradise and then in its equally popular spin off Beyond Paradise , which has just returned for a third series. At age 27 played the hopeless fop Colin Frissell in 2003's Love Actually, which made him pretty huge. His character heads for Wisconsin, where his English accent is enough to get him into bed with January Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Denise Richards and Shannon Elizabeth. Marshall took over solving murder mysteries on a Caribbean island in 2014 from Ben Miller, the show's first star – and he proved such a ratings success they created Beyond Paradise specifically for him, in damp Devon. Yet when he first auditioned for Death in Paradise in 2013 they turned him down flat. 'I didn't even make the final four,' he says. Newly married, with a three-month-old baby and his US sitcom Traffic Light recently ended, he needed a job. Then, 'Ten days later they phoned to say, 'We've made a mistake' and that changed ten years of my life.' In an age of falling viewing figures, Death in Paradise

English coastal town which tourists are flocking to after popular UK TV show is filmed there

LOOE in Cornwall has seen a huge boost in visitors thanks to BBC series Beyond Paradise. The BBC series starring Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton returned to screens in March. 4 4 The two main characters, Humphrey and Martha originally met on the fictional island of Saint Marie in the original series Death in Paradise which was filmed in Guadeloupe. Actors Kris and Sally later reprised their roles in the UK-based series, which filmed in Cornwall. The series has attracted millions of viewers, and the town of Looe has since become very popular with fans of the show flocking there in the summer. Talking to the BBC, Ben Palmer, chef and owner of the Sardine Factory in Looe, said: "Beyond Paradise has had a very positive impact on the town. People are visiting us more here, which is great. "At the restaurant we have seen a massive uptake in bookings, which is fantastic." Mr Palmer's business was featured in an episode on the show, although it was renamed the 'Ten Mile Kitchen'. He added: "People are coming down to visit us to see the set they saw on the episode, so we are very lucky and privileged to have been featured. "And we've seen an uplift in bookings and I'm very positive that other businesses have too. We all need that at this time of year and it has been warmly welcomed." The spin-off to Death in Paradise started in 2023 and is set in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott. The beaches of Looe and Fore Street which is near the East Looe River are popular locations. Behind the scenes of your favourite TV shows 4 The Grade II listed Guildhall is what is used for the Shipton Abbott Police Station. Martha's restaurant, The Ten Miles Kitchen, is filmed in The Stables, Port Eliot House & Gardens, a cafe 20 minutes inland from Looe in the parish of St Germans. For anyone wanting to take a snap of the TV cafe, it's also a chance to stop in for coffee, brunch and a look over the garden estate. According to Tripadvisor, other top places to visit in Looe include the Valley Vineyard, which has brilliant reviews of its wine tour and tasting, open between May and October. One visitor wrote: "What a lovely find! Charming, informative and friendly. We had a wonderful time on the tour and tasting." Another guest, who said they had been on wine tours around the world, said this was "the best I have ever been on." Looe is also on the South West Coast walking path of Cornwall which stretches over 300 miles so is a great location for hikers. For anyone wanting to explore the water you can hire boats, or take organised trips around the coast. You can also go crabbing, and of course swimming - of which East Looe Beach is popular. Here are . And this pretty village in England was visited by Walt Disney and was the home of a famous author. Sun Travel Ventured Down To Looe For A Visit I'M standing on the edge of a rugged clifftop looking out to sea, while the wind howls around me and ferocious waves crash on to rocks below. We're on the periphery of the old fishing harbour Polperro, in south east Cornwall, just a few miles from the ancient port of Looe. My family and I have just walked half an hour along the scenic coastline from Park Holidays' Seaview village where we are staying. Grandad has managed to carry 18-month-old Jude on his shoulders the whole way. He deserves a pint (or two) for his effort so we pile into The Three Pilchards to sink some local beer and tuck into ginormous portions of cider-battered fish and chips. This pub is the oldest in the village and dates back to the 16th century. Inside, it is cosy, atmospheric and what my dad describes as 'a proper pub'. The garden terrace is where you'll want to be though, with breath-taking panoramic views of the surrounding cove. Polperro itself, with its many ancient winding streets and white-washed houses, is charming. The salty smell of the sea air and the wobbly old-fashioned houses evoke a feeling of how the town was centuries ago — fishermen coming back after a day at sea, heartily downing their jugs of ale and singing their shanties. Hidden away on a pretty stretch of the rocky Cornish coast, we feel isolated from modern life. There are no Ubers here, but local taxi drivers are speedy and cheap. 4
