1.86 crore citizens register at Yogandhra campaign within two weeks
Vijayawada: The month-long 'Yogandhra' awareness campaign launched by the state government to promote Yoga has received 1.86 crore registrations within just two weeks of its launch on May 21. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Under the 'Yogandhra' campaign, the state government set a target to enroll two crore citizens and had achieved 93% of the registrations by June 5. Special chief secretary (medical and health) and Yogandhra state nodal officer MT Krishna Babu submitted the status report on citizen registrations for the first two weeks to the group of ministers (GoM) on Thursday. Krishna Babu informed the GoM that, with another two weeks remaining for citizen registrations under the Yogandhra campaign, the registrations are expected to surpass the targeted two crore mark. Furthermore, the state has successfully surpassed the monthly target for the registration and training of Yoga trainers. Against the target of registering 2,600 master trainers, 5,451 (209%) have already been registered. At the mandal level, 1,47,817 trainers — accounting for 118% of the target of 1,25,000 — have been registered so far. Regarding the training of trainers, 5,451 master trainers (206% of the target) and 1,43,881 mandal trainers (115%) have been trained so far. A total of 78,730 locations have been registered across the state against the target of 1,34,991 for yoga programmes in connection with the to be celebrated on June 21. The main event will be held in Visakhapatnam, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating as the chief guest. Moreover, of the thematic yoga programmes scheduled to be held in all 26 districts during the month-long Yogandhra campaign, 11 have been conducted in the first two weeks. A total of 15,783 yoga-related competitions have been held at the village and mandal levels. Krishna Babu further stated that chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has set record-breaking performance targets, including the participation of five lakh people at a single location along the Visakhapatnam–Bheemili beach stretch on June 21.

Covid-19: Active tally in India crosses 4000 mark; Maharashtra reports 86 infections
Covid-19 cases in India: The number of active Covid-19 cases in India has now crossed 4000, with Maharashtra reporting 86 infections, and 108 people testing positive for Covid-19 in Gujarat, on Tuesday. In the past 24 hours, five COVID-19 deaths have been reported across India — one each in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, and two in Maharashtra, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. As of Tuesday, June 3, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the country stands at 4,026, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's COVID-19 dashboard shows. 1. India reported 65 new Covid-19 cases, as per the health ministry's latest data on Tuesday. This marks a significant dip, as compared to yesterday's numbers, which stood at 203. 2. Gujarat reported 108 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours, the state health department said on Tuesday. With this, the total number of active infections in the state has risen to 461. 3. Maharashtra reported 86 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, raising the total infections since January 1 to 959, the health department said. So far, 435 patients have recovered, while active cases stand at 510. Since Monday, four deaths were reported: two in Nagpur, and one each in Chandrapur and Miraj. 4. Haryana reported 16 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, with Gurugram and Faridabad accounting for the majority—six and five cases respectively, according to the state health department. Karnal and Jhajjar reported two cases each, while one case emerged from Ambala. The state's active caseload rose to 51, up from 44 on Monday. Of these, Gurugram had the highest number with 17 active cases, followed by Faridabad with 12, Karnal with 11, Panchkula with 4, Jhajjar and Ambala with 3 each, and one case from Sonipat. 5. In Gwalior, a 53-year-old man tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from Mumbai and is currently under home isolation an official told news wire PTI on Tuesday. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Sachin Srivastava confirmed that health authorities were alerted about the case on Monday evening. 6. Bengal reported 41 fresh COVID-19 cases and the death of a patient who was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kolkata, an official of the state health department said on Tuesday. The deceased, 43-year-old Howrah resident, had other comorbidities, including nephrological issues and acute coronary syndrome. She died at the isolation ward of the medical establishment. 7. In Andhra Pradesh, 38 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the state over the past three weeks, the state's principal secretary for Health MT Krishna Babu told PTI. 8. Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district reported its first COVID case, after an 82-year-old woman came to Nahan Medical College and Hospital a complaint of cold and cough and was found to be positive for COVID in a rapid test. 9. Madhya Pradesh's Indore reported two new COVID-19 cases on Monday, taking the city's total to 25 since January 1. One patient is a 21-year-old from Dewas who returned from Delhi on May 27, and the other is a 35-year-old local, said District Epidemiologist Dr. Anshul Mishra. 10. Presently, Kerala has 1,446 active cases, the highest in the country followed by Maharashtra with 494, Gujarat with 397 and Delhi with 393 cases, reported PTI.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Krishna Babu chaired a meeting with medical and health department officials and reviewed the Covid-19 situation in Andhra Pradesh at his chamber in the secretariat on Monday. He enquired about the availability of viral transport medium (VTM) kits, RNA extraction kits, and RT-PCR kits used for Covid-19 testing in the state. Officials explained that the state is currently reporting a lower number of Covid-19 cases and that healthcare personnel are conducting tests as per the prescribed guidelines for individuals visiting GGHs with fever symptoms.

"38 COVID-19 cases reported in last three weeks": Andhra Pradesh Principal Secretary for Health MT Krishna Babu
Amaravathi (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 3 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Principal Secretary for Health, Medical, and Family Welfare, MT Krishna Babu, on Monday said that 38 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the state over the past three weeks. He confirmed that no new variant has been detected so far. He added that doctors are advising home isolation for most infected individuals, and the government has ensured that all hospitals are adequately prepared to handle any possible surge. Speaking to ANI, MT Krishna Babu said, 'The COVID situation is under control and we are monitoring it daily. In the last three weeks, around 38 cases have been reported. We are sending all samples for genome sequencing to check for new variants, but so far, no new strain has been found. Most patients are recovering at home with basic treatment, except in cases where other health problems make it more serious. From today, we have increased testing to around 500 people per day. All hospitals are fully prepared with the necessary infrastructure to handle any situation.' As of 8 AM on Monday, June 2, India's active COVID-19 caseload stood at 3,961, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The cumulative COVID-19 deaths in the country since January this year have increased to 32, with four deaths reported since Sunday. According to official data, 203 new cases were added to the active case count since Sunday. Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Kerala each reported one COVID-19 death since Sunday. Delhi reported 47 more COVID-19 cases, increasing the total active cases in the national capital to 483. In Kerala, active COVID-19 cases rose to 1,435, with 35 new cases reported since Sunday. In Maharashtra, 21 new COVID-19 cases were reported, taking the active case count to 506. In West Bengal, 44 new COVID-19 cases were reported, increasing the state's active cases to 331. (ANI)

Over 1.13 crore register in first 10 days of AP's Yogandhra campaign, surpassing target by 162%
VIJAYAWADA: The State government's month-long Yogandhra campaign, launched to promote yoga awareness and participation, has received an overwhelming public response. Within the first 10 days of its launch on May 21, over 1.13 crore people registered to participate, exceeding the targeted registrations for the period by more than 162%. Special Chief Secretary and State Nodal Officer for Yogandhra, MT Krishna Babu, reported the milestone to the State Ministers Committee on Friday night. The campaign, launched in the lead-up to International Day of Yoga on June 21, aims to achieve 2 crore registrations Statewide. 'The official target for registrations between May 21 and May 30 was 69.92 lakh, but the actual turnout far exceeded expectations with 1,13,47,935 people signing up,' Krishna Babu said. He added that Master Trainer registrations reached 408% of the target, while Trainer registrations stood at 113%, indicating strong grassroots enthusiasm and effective coordination by district administrations. Yoga awareness activities are being conducted at an unprecedented scale across all districts, including in schools, colleges, community centres, and public spaces. The drive continues to gain momentum as the State prepares to host the main event on June 21, which will be attended by PM Narendra Modi. The International Day of Yoga celebration is scheduled along the scenic coastal stretch from RK Beach to Bhimili in Visakhapatnam, where lakhs of participants are expected to perform yoga together. Officials say the surge in participation reflects growing awareness of yoga's physical and mental health benefits. At the current pace, the State is expected to surpass its two-crore participation target well ahead of schedule, positioning AP as a frontrunner in yoga promotion nationwide.
