Trees must be nurtured responsibly, says KU Rector
Krishna University (Krishna District): Prof MV Basaveswara Rao, Rector of Krishna University, emphasised that simply planting trees isn't enough; true results come only when the responsibility of nurturing them is taken. He made this clear during a large-scale tree planting drive on Thursday, held on the university campus as part of Vana Mahotsavam (Forest Festival). Speaking at the event, he urged all teaching and non-teaching staff at the university to compulsorily take on the responsibility of protecting the planted saplings. The programme saw the participation of Controller of Examinations Dr P Veera Brahmachari, NSS programme officers Dr Swaroopa, Dr Sesha Reddy, Dr Shanti Krupa and Dr Ravi, along with other teaching and non-teaching staff.

Sarvani emerges chess champion
Vijayawada: Sarvani Cheedella, student of Mustabada Sports and Educational Academy won the 39th AP State Junior (Under-19) Girls Chess Championship-2025 organised at Narasapuram with 5.5 points out of 6 rounds. Prof Mandava Basaveswara Rao, secretary of Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences and also Rector of Krishna University felicitated the champion and her chief coach VR Bobba. Vemuri Babu Rao, director of PB Siddhartha College presented Rs 7,000 prize money to the champion Sarvani Cheedella. Faculty Sridhar Kavuri and Abburi Rama Rao also participated in the programme.

Krishna University celebrates Achievers' Day
Krishna University (Machilipatnam): Member of Parliament Vallabhaneni Balashowry emphasised that securing a job is not the sole or final opportunity for students. He urged them to draw inspiration from entrepreneurs like Phanindra Sharma, founder of RedBus, and Anji Reddy, founder of Reddy Labs, to aspire for greater heights. He was speaking as the chief guest at the Achievers' Day programme at Krishna University Arts and Science College on Thursday. Showry encouraged students to be inspired by Phanindra Sharma, who, unable to secure a bus ticket to go home for a festival, started RedBus with just Rs 5 lakh to prevent others from facing similar issues. He later sold the company for Rs 800 crore. He also highlighted Anji Reddy, who, despite holding a small job at IDPL, was not content and went on to establish Reddy Labs Pharma Company, achieving turnovers worth several thousands of crores. Showry stressed that success isn't achieved overnight but requires perseverance and discipline. He announced that proposals have been sent to the Central government for the construction of an athletic track, indoor stadium, swimming pool, and tennis court at Krishna University, and he would strive for their realisation. Superintendent of Police R Gangadhara Rao stated that he achieved his current position by relying solely on education, despite being born into a humble family. Earlier, Krishna University Vice-Chancellor Prof K Ramji, in his inaugural address, congratulated the students on securing jobs with packages ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 4 lakh. Registrar Prof N Usha presided and DCMS Chairman Bandi Ramakrishna, Training and Placement Cell Director Prof YK Sundara Krishna, Training and Placement Department Coordinator Dr Kishore and professors and assistant professors from various departments also participated. The parents of the recruited students were felicitated, and appointment letters were handed over to the students by their parents. Earlier, MP Bala Showry and SP Gangadhara Rao offered floral tributes to the bronze statue of Dr BR Ambedkar.

Employment should not be end goal of education, be open to opportunities, MP tells students
Employment should not be the end goal of education, but a student should be ready to take on challenges and be open to various opportunities available in today's times, said Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry. Addressing the students as the chief guest of 'Achievers' Day' programme at the Krishna University (KrU) College of Arts and Science in Machilipatnam on May 22, Thursday, Mr. Balashowry said a student should take inspiration from entrepreneurs like Phanindra Sama, who, along with his two other friends, founded redBus, an online ticket booking company. Recalling how the platform came to be, Mr. Balashowry said Mr. Phanindra Sama's disappointment at not getting a ticket to go home for Deepavali led him to build an online ticketing platform in 2006 with just ₹5 lakh. Today, he sold the company at ₹800 crore, the MP said. Taking another example, Mr. Balashowry talked about Kallam Anji Reddy, the founder-chairman of Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, who started with a small position in Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited. Later, he went on to found the pharma company, the MP told the students. Later, the MP announced that proposals for setting of an athletic track, indoor stadium, swimming pool and tennis court on the campus have been sent to the Central government and that he would work towards improving facilities on the campus. Krishna Superintendent of Police R. Gangadhar Rao also spoke. He advised students to stay away from gambling and direct their focus on studies. Vice-Chancellor, K. Ramji, said students from the KrU College of Arts and Science have been offered jobs with an annual package ranging from ₹2.50 lakh to ₹4.50 lakh. Students who got the offer letters were felicitated.

BEL's night vision lens played key role in Operation Sindoor
Krishna University (Machilipatnam): Vice-Chancellor of Krishna University Prof K Ramji stated that Pakistan, India's neighbouring country, has become a hotbed for terrorists, and that the roots of terrorist attacks worldwide can be traced back to Pakistan. On Friday, a Tiranga rally was taken out at the university with a large national flag to congratulate the Indian army on its success in Operation Sindoor. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that in today's world, where wars have been ongoing for years, the fighting spirit of the Indian soldiers, which brought the enemy nation to its knees within three days, has inspired the people of the country. He expressed pride that the Night Vision Lens, manufactured by the Machilipatnam BEL Company, played a crucial role in Operation Sindoor. He lauded India's integrity, stating that the destruction of terrorist bases and air bases in Pakistan, without causing harm to civilians, is a testament to the country's honesty. He urged the youth to remain vigilant for the welfare of the nation. The rally, organised under the auspices of the Krishna University Engineering College, saw the participation of Registrar Prof N Usha, Engineering College Principal Dr Vijayakumari, Pharmacy College Principal Dr Rambabu, Finance Officer Rathan, PD Gopi, the professors, the assistant professors, non-teaching staff, and students.
