Union min Dharmendra Pradhan unveils Odisha's second Krushi Bhawan in Sambalpur
SAMBALPUR: Union Education Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the state-of-the-art Krushi Bhawan here on Sunday. Constructed at a cost of Rs 5.36 crore, the Krushi Bhawan will serve as a single-window platform for all agriculture-related services in Sambalpur district. It houses offices of the chief district agriculture officer and agriculture technology management agency besides a conference hall, guesthouse and soil testing laboratory. These facilities are aimed at providing seamless services and essential infrastructure to farmers and rural communities. The complex will also serve as a hub for showcasing agricultural modules and imparting training to local farmers and fostering skill development and awareness. Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said establishment of Odisha's second Krushi Bhawan would 'give a new identity to the agricultural sector' in the region. He informed that during the current kharif and rabi seasons, the state government has procured around 90 lakh tonne of paddy and disbursed over Rs 8,000 crore directly to farmers.

Sambalpur: Union education minister on Sunday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Krushi Bhavan at Sambalpur, in the presence of deputy chief minister and agriculture minister K V Singh Deo and several senior ministers and officials. Speaking at the event, Pradhan said, "Sambalpur is an agriculture-centric region. This modern Krushi Bhavan will give a new identity to Odisha's farm sector and support research and innovation. It's a gift to our annadatas (providers of food)." Pradhan also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mohan Charan Majhi, stating that the double-engine govt is committed to ensuring no citizen is deprived of basic facilities. The Krushi Bhawan will house offices of the chief district agriculture officer, agricultural technology management agency, laboratories for soil testing, a conference hall, and training modules for farmers. It will act as a one-stop centre for all agri-related services. Under the 'Anna Abhinaya Yojana', four local women self-help groups received financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to set up millet-based tiffin centres. These groups had earlier received training in millet food production and marketing, aimed at ensuring nutrition and generating rural income. Singh Deo said the initiative will strengthen grassroots-level farming. "The govt is working towards doubling farmers' incomes through integrated support and modern infrastructure," he added. Pradhan also noted that in the current year, over Rs 8,000 crore has been transferred to farmers in Odisha through paddy procurement and students of Classes 9 and 10 have now been included in the PM Poshan Scheme. On the occasion of Sheetala Shashti, the minister also planted a sapling as part of the 'Maa Paain Gachhatie' campaign.
