SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — With the primary election less than 90 days away, one Springfield city commissioner is sharing why she will not be seeking re-election. Krystal Brown said she will not seek re-election as a city commissioner due to the rise of racism in the city. Brown said it's these types of comments that led to her decision. 'To think that a human being with a development of the human mind, a human brain physiologically cannot be compared to that of an animal,' said Brown. 'And to compare people with African American descent as less than animals is once again super racist.' She added racism continues to divide people, and believes it's a product of capitalism.
