Zakir Sheikh, a resident of Berhampur in West Bengal's Murshidabad, occasionally bought lottery tickets on his way home from work, always hoping that luck might one day smile upon him. One such day, he purchased a ticket for Rs 150; a simple act that would soon change his life. To his utter astonishment, that very ticket secured the first prize of Rs 1 crore.
Initially stunned by his win, Zakir Sheikh verified the results several times before the truth sank in. Overcome with emotion, he rushed to the Baharampur police station to officially report his win. Tears welled in his eyes as the reality of his good fortune finally set in.
Zakir Sheikh lived in poverty with his wife and daughters, working tirelessly as a mason to make ends meet. Now, with this unexpected windfall, his family's future looks brighter. His father, Kuber Sheikh, shared his hopes for Zakir Sheikh's future: 'I hope my son uses the money wisely. He had nothing before. Now he can buy land and build a house."
Speaking to reporters, Zakir Sheikh said, 'Winning the lottery was always a dream of mine. Now that I've actually won the first prize, I plan to build a proper home, buy land, and arrange the marriages of my two daughters."
