Ontario man charged after police seize loaded gun, drugs and cash in Moncton

New Brunswick RCMP charged a man from Ontario with multiple drug and weapons charges and arrested three others following a drug-trafficking investigation in Moncton, N.B.
Kudzai Nyembe-Mafohla, 28, from Scarborough, Ont., appeared in Moncton provincial court Tuesday where he was charged with the following:
possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl (and analogues)
possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized
careless use of a firearm
unauthorized possession of a firearm
weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization
possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration
RCMP arrested Mafohla inside of a vehicle that was 'in proximity to' a residence they were searching on Garfield Street in Moncton on Monday, said a news release.
Police also arrested a 54-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman while they executed the search warrant at the residence.
Police allegedly seized:
loaded handgun
armour piercing ammunition
approximately 1.7 kilograms of fentanyl
approximately 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine
180 grams of cocaine and Canadian currency
The 54-year-old man, the 19-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were later released.
Mahfohla was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return to court on June 10.
The investigation is ongoing.
