Kukatpally Housing Board plot sold at Rs 2.98 lakh per sq yard
HYDERABAD: A record price of Rs 2.98 lakh per sq yd was bid for an open plot in Kukatpally Housing Board (KPHB) Phase-7 during an auction conducted by the Telangana Housing Board on Wednesday. As many as 18 open plots, ranging from 198 to 987 sq yd were auctioned, with plot No. 22 fetching the highest bid of Rs 2.98 lakh per sq yd. A total of 84 bidders participated in the auction. In January this year, plots at KPHB were auctioned for up to Rs 1.85 lakh per sq yd. In August 2023, a 3.6-acre parcel at the Neopolis layout in Kokapet was sold for Rs 362.7 crore, or Rs 2.08 lakh per sq yd. Housing Board vice-chairman VP Gautham stated that Wednesday's auction generated a total revenue of Rs 142.78 crore. 'We auctioned a total of 6,232 sq yd, with an average price of Rs 2.38 lakh per sq yd,' he said. Successful bidders must pay 25% of the amount within two days. This will fetch the KPHB an immediate income of Rs 35.34 crore, Goutham added.

The plots, ranging from a cozy 198 to a spacious 987 square yards, were hot commodities. But it was plot number 22 that truly stole the show, commanding the day's highest bid. 'This remarkable response is undeniable proof of the robust growth in Hyderabad's real estate,' said Housing Board officials, their satisfaction palpable. The soaring land prices, they noted, reflect the city's increasing allure for investors and homeowners alike. The auction was a resounding success for the Housing Board, raking in an impressive Rs 142.78 crore in revenue. In total, 6,232 square yards were auctioned, with the average price across all plots settling at a healthy Rs 2.38 lakh per square yard. The immediate impact of this land-sale frenzy will be felt within days, as buyers are required to submit 25 per cent of their bid amount within two days. This initial wave of payments alone is projected to inject a substantial Rs 35.34 crore directly into the Housing Board's coffers, providing a significant financial boost. GHMC task force cracks down on hostels in the city
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's task force teams have continued their inspections of the hostels in the city. On Saturday (May 24), the teams inspected the hostels in Srinagar Colony, Lalitha Nagar in LB Nagar zone, Dilsukhnagar, Kukatpally Housing Board, Moosapet, Vinayaknagar, and Patrika Nagar in Serilingampally zone. On the second day, a total 60 hostels were inspected, and notices were issued to 38 hostel managements over various violations. Closure orders were issued to seven hostel kitchens for not maintaining standards, a statement from GHMC informed. On Friday, the teams visited 58 hostels in Ashoknagar, Dilsukhnagar and Ameerpet, and issued notices to 30 of them . Eight kitchens were closed down. Most common violations observed were lack of hygiene, unauthorised use of cellars and parking spaces for kitchens, and absence of trade and FSSAI licenses.
