Viraj Kapoor on his role in Anupamaa ending and joining Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan; says ‘I'm making my debut in historical genre'
Actor Viraj Kapoor , who won hearts as Romil Kapadia in Anupamaa , is all set to showcase a new side of his talent in the upcoming historical drama Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan . The show, also starring Ronit Roy and Padmini Kolhapure, marks Viraj's debut in the historical genre, and he couldn't be more excited. Speaking exclusively, Viraj shared, 'My character's name is Nagarjun, and with this, I'm making my debut in the historical genre. This will again be a negative role . Playing the antagonist is fun — there's so much scope to explore and bring drama to the story. You get the liberty to perform your best and drive the narrative forward.' The actor further opened up about the grand scale of the production. 'We are shooting in Aamgaon, and the sets are massive. They've been designed with such precision and detail. I must say, these will be among the best sets ever seen on Indian television,' he added. Dressed as a royal prince for his character, Viraj is enjoying the transformation. 'I'm really loving the look. Thankfully, I don't struggle much with heavy jewellery, traditional outfits, or the shuddh Hindi diction since I've already worked in mythological shows. That experience is coming in handy. Our directors are also guiding us really well,' he explained. On his abrupt exit from Anupamaa, he expressed, 'I know many fans were disappointed when Romil's role ended. I received countless messages on social media. Honestly, I had no answers and was hopeful I might return. But I don't blame anyone — it's all destiny. I'm filled with gratitude to the makers who gave me such love and recognition. I would love to work with them again if given a chance.' Viraj has earlier appeared in shows like Kulfi Kumar Bajewala, Tera Yaar Hoon Main, and Nadaan Parindey Ghar Aaja.
