Kuwait wraps up championship with silver in mixed team trap shooting
KUWAIT CITY, April 19, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti national team claimed the silver medal in the trap shooting event after the His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Grand Shooting Championship. The week-long tournament brought together 220 shooters representing 18 countries and was held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Ranges, under the supervision of the Kuwait Shooting Federation. Kuwait's duo, Nasser Al-Meqled and Sarah Al-Hawal, earned silver in the trap mixed team event, finishing just behind the gold medal-winning team from Turkiye. Their performance brought Kuwait's overall medal tally in the championship to four – one gold and three silvers. Italy and Morocco shared third place, securing bronze. Following the award ceremony, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governor Sheikh Sabah Badr Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah praised the impressive performance of the Kuwaiti athletes, highlighting the high level of competition throughout the tournament. Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Duaij Al-Otaibi, extended his appreciation to His Highness the Amir for his continued support of the sport, which has helped elevate Kuwait's position in regional and international shooting competitions. Al-Otaibi also emphasized the success of this year's edition, noting that the championship has been officially recognized on the calendar of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF). He added that the attendance of ISSF Secretary General Alessandro Nicotra di San Giacomo at the opening ceremony further reflected the event's growing prestige.

Egypt and Oman delegations hail Kuwait's organization of Amir Shooting Championship
KUWAIT CITY, April 12: The annual Grand Prix of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Shooting Championship officially begins today, Sunday, with the qualifying rounds for the men's and women's skeet (75-shooter) events. The official training sessions for both the men's and women's skeet competitions took place yesterday, followed by the opening ceremony at 6:30 pm. The technical committee for the championship convened at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Ranges. Chaired by Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, member of the International Shooting Federation, and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee of the Championship, the meeting covered the regulations for the competition and addressed queries from the participating teams. Major General Hazem Hosni, President of the Egyptian and African Shooting Federations, expressed the Arab Republic of Egypt's strong commitment to participating in the His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Grand Championship. He highlighted the championship's esteemed position both within Arab and foreign nations and the invaluable support and patronage it receives from His Highness the Amir. Hosni remarked, "Kuwait offers crucial success factors for such events, including the presence of top shooters, which ensures fierce competition. The Kuwait Shooting Club is equipped with Olympic-standard ranges, providing an ideal environment for both training and competition." He added that Egypt's shooting team is participating in the championship not only for the experience but also to pursue additional medals. Hosni also commended the efforts of the Kuwait Shooting Federation, led by Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi and its board members, for their dedication to ensuring the championship's success. He acknowledged the ongoing support from Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah, President of the Asian Shooting Federation, for all Asian shooting federations. The head of the Omani delegation also expressed his congratulations to Engineer Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi on the launch of the championship, which carries a name held dear by everyone. He emphasized that the organization of the event was exceptional, a hallmark of Kuwait's long-standing excellence in hosting world-class championships. Subhi praised the Kuwait Shooting Federation for setting exemplary standards in organizing major events and creating an environment that supports competitive fairness. He added, "The Oman Shooting Federation always looks forward to participating in tournaments in Kuwait, with the His Highness the Amir's Championship being among the most significant. KUWAIT CITY, April 5: The Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Shooting Federation, along with all members of the Kuwaiti shooting community, expressed their sincere appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his unwavering support of the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club and his continuous encouragement of Kuwaiti shooters to pursue excellence across regional and international competitions. Obaid Al-Osaimi, Secretary-General of both the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, extended special thanks to His Highness for his generous patronage of the Amir's International Shooting Championship, which will take place from April 11 to 20. While presiding over the meeting of the tournament's organizing committees at the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club, Al-Osaimi emphasized that hosting this prestigious championship for the twelfth consecutive year is a tremendous honor. He noted that it reflects not only the club and federation's dedication but also the boundless support Kuwaiti shooting continues to receive from His Highness the Amir. This backing, he said, has been instrumental in elevating Kuwait's global standing in the sport and in securing Olympic and international medals for Kuwaiti shooters. During the meeting, the heads of the organizing committees presented detailed briefings on the preparations and logistical arrangements carried out over the past period. Each committee leader outlined their team's responsibilities, coordination mechanisms, and execution plans to ensure a successful event. Al-Osaimi expressed his full confidence in the committees, praising their extensive experience in hosting major tournaments. He also announced that the opening ceremony of the tournament will be held on Saturday at 6:30 pm at the Kuwait Shooting Sports Club in the presence of His Highness the Amir's representative, Sheikh Sabah Badr Al-Sabah, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer.
