Doctors, Media Figures Among 157 Stripped of Kuwaiti Citizenship
KUWAIT CITY, May 18: The official gazette 'Kuwait Al-Youm' published in its Sunday issue Decree No. 88/2025 that revoked Kuwaiti citizenship from 154 individuals, along with those who had acquired it through them, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The list includes doctors, scholars, former footballers, and media figures who had obtained Kuwaiti nationality under the clause of 'providing distinguished services to Kuwait.' The official gazette also published Cabinet Resolution No. 553/2025 for revoking the citizenship certificates of three individuals and those who acquired it through them, based on Article 21 bis-A of Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15/1959 and its amendments, relating to forgery cases. On Saturday, the official gazette published in its supplement two decisions issued by the Supreme Committee for Investigating Kuwaiti Nationality concerning the revocation of citizenship for five individuals due to dual nationality. The first decision, No. 9/78-2/2025 ordered the revocation of citizenship for two women, based on Article 10 of Amiri Decree No. 15/1959 concerning the Nationality Law. The second decision, No. 9/79-2/2025, stipulated the revocation of citizenship for three individuals, based on Article 11. Article 10 of the Nationality Law states: 'A Kuwaiti woman who marries a foreigner shall not lose her Kuwaiti nationality unless she acquires her husband's nationality at her request.' Article 11 states: 'A Kuwaiti man shall lose his nationality if he voluntarily acquires a foreign nationality. His Kuwaiti wife shall not lose her nationality unless she acquires his new nationality. His minor children shall lose their Kuwaiti nationality if they acquire their father's new nationality under the laws of the country granting it.' Children have the right to declare their choice to retain Kuwaiti nationality to the Minister of Interior within two years of reaching the age of majority.

Kuwait to strip 1,291 individuals of citizenship in latest nationality review
KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Supreme Committee for the Investigation of Kuwaiti Nationality convened on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, resulting in the decision to revoke the Kuwaiti nationality of 1,291 individuals. This move is pending final approval by the Council of Ministers. According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior, the committee's decisions were based on various provisions of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its subsequent amendments: Dual Nationality (Article 11): The nationality of nine individuals was revoked due to the acquisition of foreign nationality without renouncing Kuwaiti citizenship, as stipulated by Article 11. Fraud and False Declarations (Article 21 bis A): In 113 cases, nationality certificates were withdrawn after investigations revealed fraudulent acquisition or false statements made during the naturalization process. Under Article 13, Paragraph 1, the committee decided to withdraw citizenship from 86 individuals for similar violations involving falsified information or fraudulent acquisition, also affecting those who gained nationality through their association with the primary individuals.n General National Interest (Article 13, Paragraph 4): The committee decided to revoke the citizenship of 1,083 individuals under this provision, which allows for withdrawal when deemed necessary for the country's higher interests. The Ministry emphasized that these actions align with the government's commitment to safeguarding national identity and ensuring the integrity of the naturalization process. The decisions are now subject to review and approval by the Council of Ministers. This development is part of a broader initiative by the Kuwaiti authorities to address issues related to nationality and naturalization, reflecting ongoing efforts to reinforce the country's legal and administrative frameworks.

The cases are now set to be submitted to the Council of Ministers for final endorsement. The decisions were made under various provisions of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments, citing legal violations and matters of national interest. The breakdown of the cases is as follows: Dual Nationality: 5 individuals were found in violation of Articles 10 and 11, which prohibit holding another nationality alongside Kuwaiti citizenship. Fraud and Forgery: 275 cases involved fraudulent claims or forged documents under Article 21 bis A, including individuals who gained citizenship through dependency. Public Interest (Sons of Kuwaiti Women): One case was revoked under Article 13(4), citing reasons tied to the country's higher interest. Public Interest (Noble Deeds Clause): 16 individuals who acquired nationality based on 'noble deeds,' along with their dependents, had their citizenship revoked under Article 13(4). Public Interest (1965 Census): 137 cases linked to the 1965 census data were also annulled under the same article, including dependents. The move reflects Kuwait's ongoing scrutiny of citizenship records, aiming to uphold the integrity of the naturalization process and safeguard national security.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Supreme Nationality Investigation Committee has decided to revoke Kuwaiti nationality under Article 13, Paragraph 2 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15/1959 and its amendments, in 16 cases involving various types of crimes including crimes against honor and trust , reports Al-Rai daily. These cases are the following: - Census of 1965: 1. Committed the crime of forgery in official documents and money laundering, for which a final court ruling was issued. 2. Conviction for drug trafficking, resulting in a 15-year prison sentence. - Children of Kuwaiti women: 1. Conviction in a case of sexual assault of a woman without her consent, and several other cases that resulted in final judicial rulings. 2. Conviction for drug trafficking and theft cases, all resulting in final rulings. 3. Conviction for theft involving violence, for which a prison sentence is being served. 4. Conviction for money laundering, with a final sentence of 10 years in prison. - Those granted Kuwaiti citizenship for exceptional services to Kuwait: 1. Conviction for embezzling public funds, with a five-year prison sentence. 2. Conviction for forging official documents, with a five-year prison sentence. - Children of naturalized individuals who subsequently obtained Kuwaiti citizenship: 1. Over 18 years old and has a final judgment for possessing narcotic substances for trafficking and use. 2. Convicted of kidnapping by force and threat, sentenced to 10 years in prison, then committed premeditated murder and was sentenced to death. 3. Son of a Kuwaiti woman convicted of rape and sentenced to 15 years in prison. 4. Convicted of forgery in an official document 5. Convicted of drug use and dumping the body of a drug user who died from an overdose. 6. Convicted by a final judgment in a drug trafficking case. 7. Sentenced to death for premeditated murder. 8. Kuwait withdraws citizenship from 476 individuals for fraud, dual citizenship, and more
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13: The Supreme Committee for Investigating Kuwaiti Nationality held a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, who also serves as the Chairman of the Supreme Committee. During the meeting, the committee decided to withdraw, revoke, or annul Kuwaiti citizenship for 476 cases, which will be presented to the Council of Ministers. The decisions were made as follows: Loss of Kuwaiti citizenship under Article 11 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments: 13 cases of dual citizenship. Withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality certificates under Article 21 bis A of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments: 443 cases involving fraud, false statements (forgery), and individuals who may have obtained nationality through dependency. Withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship under Article 13, Paragraph 4 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments: 3 cases related to the supreme interest of the country. Withdrawal of Kuwaiti citizenship under Article 13, Paragraph 2 of the Kuwaiti Nationality Law No. 15 of 1959 and its amendments: 16 cases related to crimes against honor and trust, including the following details: 2 cases from the 1965 census campaign. 4 cases involving the sons of Kuwaiti women. 2 cases involving noble deeds. 8 cases involving the children of naturalized citizens.
