Madeline Brewer Calls Out You Fans Who Called Her Ugly
Back in April, the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series You finally hit our screens, and viewers were introduced to a brand new central character called Louise 'Brontë' Flannery, played by Madeline Brewer. Brontë ended up being the person to bring down protagonist Joe Goldberg once and for all, but unfortunately, a lot of viewers did not take kindly to the character. In fact, Madeline ended up being cruelly trolled by fans of the show on social media, with the star even hitting back at some of the negative comments that were left on her account. When one You fan claimed that she 'cannot act,' Madeline cooly replied: 'I've literally been nominated for an Emmy.'Madeline was also targeted for her looks, with one troll writing: 'You ruined season 5 with your looks,' to which Madeline said, 'no I didn't.' When somebody else made fun of her chin, the star quipped: 'I do have great bone structure! thank you.' Madeline ended up addressing these nasty comments during an interview with L'Officiel, where she said: 'If you don't like my character, I don't care — but you don't need to call me ugly." And the actor has opened up some more about how she was treated in a new interview with People, where she admitted that she was 'a little' surprised by how her character was received by the You fandom. 'I'll be honest, I didn't expect people to like Brontë, but I didn't expect them to call me ugly, because I'm not,' Madeline told the publication. "I get that I'm not everybody's cup of tea, but I'm not ugly.' "I had thought that the largest fan base of this show is women, young women, and I never anticipated the amount of misogyny to be fired at me,' she continued. Madeline then shared her theory that You fans turned on her as an actor in retaliation for Brontë explicitly exposing Joe Goldberg's misogyny. She said: 'That deconstruction of their hero, it makes them upset.' 'They can't help but get on their cell phones and comment on my pictures and go: 'Oh, you're so ugly. You look like a goblin,'" she said. "And I'm like: 'Girl, lighten up. I'm not ugly.'"While Madeline is thankfully able to brush off the nasty insults about her appearance now, she did admit that she 'would have crumbled' if the backlash had happened 'at an earlier time' in her life. 'Being in my 30s, I don't care. I knew I could handle it,' she explained. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier to hear that Madeline has risen above the cruel internet trolls — let me know what you think of her latest quotes in the comments below!

After 'You' Star Madeline Brewer Called Out Critics Who Said She 'Ruined Season 5 With Her Looks,' People Are Highlighting An Alarming Pattern Of Misogynistic Trolling
Since Season 5 of You premiered on Netflix last month, actor Madeline Brewer — who plays Brontë — has sadly faced heaps of unfair criticism and trolling, namely from fans who don't like her on-screen character. Madeline has hit back at loads of the negative Instagram comments she's received. Earlier this week, she replied to someone who said she 'cannot act' with, 'I've literally been nominated for an Emmy.' @madbrew / Via But as well as criticizing her acting skills, trolls have targeted Madeline's appearance, too. One person commented, 'You ruined season 5 with your looks,' to which Madeline simply said, 'no I didn't.' And in response to someone else who made fun of her chin, Madeline quipped, 'I do have great bone structure! thank you.' Madeline addressed the criticism further during an interview with L'Officiel last month, where she said, 'If you don't like my character, I don't care — but you don't need to call me ugly.' The star also pointed out that fellow actor Kaitlyn Dever has received similar harsh and widespread criticism from fans of The Last of Us who didn't like her character, Abby. 'It's so funny, because people are truly unable to separate the actor from the character. I know Kaitlyn Dever is getting a lot of this right now too, and it's like, why are we so incapable of doing that?' Madeline questioned. For context, Kaitlyn faced so much backlash from some TLOU fans that extra security was required on set for her safety, according to her costar, Isabela Merced. A viral TikTok with over one million views has since drawn attention to the alarmingly similar way that these actors are treated by people who don't like their on-screen characters, while also citing Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) and Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus). 'It's cruel, misogynistic, and it's bittered my view of humanity,' one comment read. 'I hate how we complain that people are starting to all look the same and then when someone looks a bit different they get made fun of,' said another. 'People have a hard time separating character and actor and it's very problematic. I feel so bad for her,' one user said about Madeline. 'If you're sending hate to a real person cause you dislike a character she played which is not real, you should seriously question what the fuck is going on with you,' someone echoed. 'if y'all cannot separate the actor from the character, you're not mature enough to be watching tv,' one person said, while another added, 'they go 'we want to see new people in movies and shows!!' then hate it when there is.'

'You' actress Madeline Brewer feels the season finale was 'intense' and 'traumatizing'; says calling her 'ugly' is unreasonable
Madeline Brewer , the actress whose role ended the obsession (to kill) of the infamous Joe Goldberg , revealed that the finale of the fifth season was 'intense' and 'traumatizing.' However, along with the intense choreography, she said that it was all worth it. While the internet chose to mock or troll Louise/Bronte, Brewer has given her firm statement about them as well. Madeline Brewer felt the choreography was intense In an interview with People, Madeline stated, 'It was a huge moment and it was really exciting to help land the plane of these five seasons of a show.' 'It was intense, but it was really choreographed. It was every moment, down to where little scrapes and things were on us were super choreographed. But really traumatising in a lot of ways. I talked about this on Penn [Badgley]'s Podcrushed Podcast. Yeah, it was really intense. It was great, though,' she added. "I don't care — but you don't need to call me ugly.' Additionally, Madeline stated that people choose to troll her about the actions her character does, seamlessly forgetting the difference between the character and the actor. In an interview with Vanity Fair, she said, 'People aren't going to like Bronte for one reason or another. They'll love to hate her — or hate to love her. So that part I'm just gently preparing myself for. If that means I'm not on Instagram for a while, that's fine.' In a different interview with L'Officiel, Madeline expressed about Kaitlyn Denver getting hate for her role (Abby from 'The Last of Us' - who killed Pedro Pascal's character). Questioning the incapability of separating the actor from character, Madeline stated that if the audience doesn't like her character, 'I don't care — but you don't need to call me ugly.' While the trolls have supported Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), the former partner of Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) in 'You,' the hate for Louise Flannery has been common. There have been subreddits of netizens supporting the actress, calling out the users for supporting misogynistic comments.

He claimed that it entered his system in a massage from his physio, who had treated a cut on his finger with a spray that contained clostebol.
