Rishabh Pant still got it: Fans praise LSG skipper's no-look six vs GT's Rabada

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant reminded everyone of his freakish talent and undeniable flair with a brief but blazing cameo in LSG's IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans - a rare spark in what has been an otherwise dismal season. Under fire for his underwhelming performances, Pant smashed 16 runs off just six balls in the final over, including a jaw-dropping no-look six off Kagiso Rabada, reigniting fan admiration and silencing critics, if only for a walked in during the 19th over, with LSG already cruising at 212 for 2. Facing Rabada, one of the most feared pacers in T20 cricket, he wasted no time. The South African offered a slot ball outside off, and Pant pounced - launching it flat and straight down the ground with authority. It was a clean, confident strike that set the tone for the final vs LSG, IPL 2025: Updates | Full Scorecard But the real highlight came two balls later. Pant backed away outside leg stump to a full delivery and swung it over deep backward square leg. What made the shot unforgettable wasn't just the timing or placement - it was the audacity. He didn't even look up to watch the ball sail. Head down, bat still, the no-look six was pure instinct and swagger. It was vintage Pant - and fans on social media couldn't get enough of Pant still got it. He was just going through a bad phase," one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter), capturing the mood of many who saw glimpses of the old Pant in those few fiery deliveries. But beyond the numbers, it was Pant's presence, confidence, and signature flair that stole the his moment of brilliance came just hours after a heated social media spat with a user who predicted LSG would release him before next season. The criticism, while harsh, had statistical backing. Pant, who was bought for a record ?27 crore in last year's mega auction - the most expensive buy in IPL history - had endured a forgettable 2025 campaign. Before this match, he had managed just 135 runs from 12 games, averaging 12 with a strike rate of 100 - a far cry from his usual explosive updated on IPL 2025 with India Today! Cricket world rallies around Mitch Marsh after family development comes to light

Cricket fans are sending well-wishes to Mitch Marsh and his family after he stepped down from Lucknow Super Giants' match in the IPL on Saturday because his daughter is sick. Marsh has been in sublime form in the IPL this year, bouncing back after being axed from Australia's Test team during the summer. The veteran all-rounder has blasted scores of 72, 52, 60 and 81 so far this tournament, and appears to be thriving without the added responsibility of bowling. Marsh has helped the Super Giants to four wins from their first six games to be third on the ladder, but he was missed on Saturday. Speaking at the toss, Lucknow captain Rishabh Pant said Marsh wouldn't be playing the match against Gujarat Titans. The Indian star revealed that Marsh had stepped away to help look after 19-week-old daughter Olive. 'Instead of Mitchell Marsh, Himmat Singh comes in," Pant said. "Marsh's daughter is not well, so he is looking after her.' Marsh and wife Greta welcomed their first child in November last year. Fans took to social media to send messages of support to Mitch and Greta on Saturday and hope for a speedy recovery for Olive. In his absence, Lucknow still eased to a six-wicket victory after Gujarat batted first and made 6-180 thanks to Sai Sudharsan (56) and Shubman Gill (60). The Super Giants chased down the target with three balls to spare as Aiden Markram made 58 and Nicholas Pooran 61. Mitchell Marsh is not playing today's match due to his daughter being unwell.- Wishing his daughter for a speedy recovery.#LSGvGT — Pratik Singh (@Pratikbihar) April 12, 2025 It's unfortunate to hear about Mitchell Marsh's daughter. Family always comes first, and I hope she feels better soon. Wishing him strength during this time. Let's hope for a good performance from the team despite his absence. — Dilip Jain ✨𝒟𝓙✨ (@dilipjain077) April 12, 2025 Family always comes first. He was then overlooked for selection for the tour of Sri Lanka that followed. The 33-year-old was then ruled out of the ODI tour of Sri Lanka and the Champions Trophy in Pakistan due to 'lower back pain and dysfunction' - an injury relating to a disc problem that he'd been managing for some time. But he was cleared to take-up his $623,000 contract with his new IPL team as a batter-only - and has shown his value in spades. The power-hitting right-hander has blasted four fifties among his 267 total runs, which marked the second-most in the tournament at the time of his last innings. The veteran has been aided by the IPL's sub rule, which has allowed him to rest during fielding innings. 'I have never been more motivated to score runs, I can just go sit on by back side and enjoy,' he said recently. RELATED: Will Pucovski's scary reveal about family as sad news confirmed Pat Cummins under fire over 'questionable' act towards teammate Marsh was recently included on the Cricket Australia contract list for the 2025-26 season, and is still an integral part of Australia's white-bal sides. But chief selector George Bailey doesn't think his red-ball career is over just yet. 'I still think there's an incredibly exciting skill set there with the bat, the way he can rip a game open,' he said. 'If you look ahead to a team like England and the way they play their cricket and the way they seem to be framing up their team, I think he's got a skill set there that could be helpful as well. 'I still think he's got an incredibly important role to play. He's had some injury issues, and towards the back end of the summer he was battling with his back a little bit. It's an ongoing conversation as to where bowling may or may not fit into his international cricket going forward. I still think he can play an incredibly important role in setting that (T20) team up and hopefully leading that team to some success in the T20 World Cup.' with agencies
