Bald eagle to be released after getting care from LSU Vet School for injuries
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine's Wildlife Hospital will be releasing an adult male bald eagle that was treated for a few months.
A state wildlife agent dropped off the injured bald eagle at the vet school after it was found in the New Orleans area in January 2025. According to the LSU Vet School, the bald eagle had 'open fractures of his right major and minor metacarpal bones.'
The release is scheduled to take place at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, not too far from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine on the corner of River Road and Skip Bertman Drive.
The LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital accepts wildlife cases all week long from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. There's no charge, but the hospital accepts donations to maintain its program helping animals.
