Her love lives on in her daughter, Pennie Bowman; her grandchildren, Lacie Bowman, Maggie Bowman, and Michael Paul Lacombe II (Camila), Michael was her devoted caregiver; her great-grandchildren, Jaxtyn and Halen, and her godchild, Mandi Gallagher. Shirley shared a special bond with Cathy Perry-Smith, her 'sister by heart,' and was a guiding light to numerous nieces, cousins, and extended family. She now reunites in Heaven with her parents; her beloved son, Michael P. Lacombe; her brothers, Larry North and Robert North, and her sister, Judy Benoit, each of whom she held close in her heart. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Shirley's life at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, 4321 Lake Street, with Msgr. Jace Eskind presiding. Though she may no longer walk among us, Shirley's spirit full of grace, laughter, and love will continue to live on in all whose lives she touched. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at

‘Ride for Willie T. and Car Show' event canceled by City of LaGrange
LaGRANGE (WRBL) — The City of LaGrange has decided 'Ride for Willie T. and Car Show' scheduled for April 12. The city says the event is being canceled in an effort to support other local school car show fundraisers happening during the same time. 'In the spirit of supporting students, the very reason we were doing this fundraiser in the first place, we realized our event would be scheduled within weeks of two other car shows, hosted by LaGrange High School on April 19 and Troup High School on May 17.' Organizer and City Councilman Quay Boddie. 'These are meaningful fundraisers organized by students, parents, and alumni who are working hard to make a difference in young people's lives and we don't want to take any attention or support away from them.' Councilman Boddie created the 'Ride for Willie T. and Care Show' to honor the memory of the late Willie T. Edmondson. The goal of the car show is to support local students directly. It also raises money for the Willie T. Edmondson Memorial Scholarship Fund. 'Supporting the children isn't just a cause, it's a calling that the late Willie T. Edmondson himself believed in deeply,' Boddie said. 'We feel the best way to honor his legacy is by putting the students first.' Boddie says the city will reimburse those who have registered for the event and provide entry fees if they would like to participate in either car show at LaGrange High or Troup High. Boddie added the city will also provide a raffle prize to each school's car show to help boost their fundraising efforts. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
