Will 'Temptation Island' Replicate Viral Montoya Moment On Netflix?
"Temptation Island" has arrived on Netflix with a very spicy storyline that could give viewers a strong feeling of deja vu. The controversial series has chosen Netflix as its new home following a new wave of interested viewers thanks to the peak entertainment its sister show "La Isla de las Tentaciones" provided. "Temptation Island" is a famous reality show created with a concept that lets coupled participants test the strength of their relationship and see if it is bound to fail or stand the tests of time. It has been a long time coming for the show, and while it is still the new bride on Netflix, the show has been a part of the reality TV register for years. "Temptation Island" premiered on FOX in 2001 and quickly stood out as a radical reality TV dating concept, capturing the attention of viewers who were still getting accustomed to the genre. Despite mixed reviews, the show ran for three seasons before being quietly canceled. Fast forward nearly two decades, the landscape of reality television had evolved significantly, making "Temptation Island" seem relatively tame in comparison to current shows. Screen Rant noted that producers seized the opportunity to reintroduce the series to a new audience on USA Network, where they had more creative freedom to modernize the concept for the 2020s. After several successful seasons, "Temptation Island" eventually made its way to Netflix, reaching an even broader audience. The show's debut on the Netflix platform brings various benefits, particularly its daring approach to reality TV. Netflix is giving the series the freedom to incorporate more provocative content than it has previously featured. The show is not explicitly adult-themed, but it does portray participants in compromising situations that may not be appropriate for work. In a preview clip from the Netflix series, one participant is shown a video of her partner entering a bathroom with two other women and engaging in intimate activities with both. This level of exposure to intimate moments is a departure from what was seen in previous seasons. In a manner reminiscent of the viral Montoya moment from "La Isla de las Tentaciones," Season 9 of "Temptation Island" is rife with moments that have the potential to propel the show into a viral phenomenon. A participant ended his two-year relationship less than 24 hours into the show, serving his mini Montoya moment. As shared by Mirror, the couple, Tayler Byrd, a 30-year-old health education specialist and personal trainer, and Tyler Breshears, a 27-year-old model who is a salesperson, have dated for quite some time. The show kicked off with intense drama, as Tyler declared he was "done" just 24 hours after entering the process. During the first bonfire for the boys, Tyler observed Tayler confiding in one of the new arrivals about her frustrations. She revealed that she had supported their home financially for the past 10 months after Tyler quit his job. Furthermore, she expressed dissatisfaction with his lack of attention to small household matters, like not putting the toilet seat down. Tayler reflected on her feelings, suggesting that Tyler might not be able to meet the level of commitment she desired in their relationship. Tyler expressed frustration after watching his partner criticize him for not putting the toilet seat down, interpreting it as a sign of thoughtlessness in their relationship. He feels that despite consistently doing many things right, she focuses on one mistake to undermine his character and suggests that he does not value her. This dynamic, he believes, has contributed to their ongoing arguments over the past few years. Tyler stated that he is ready to leave the relationship if she cannot look beyond these minor issues. On the show, four couples struggling to advance in their relationships are placed in separate villas. In their respective villas, they will reportedly encounter various temptations as a group of singletons moves in with them, adding to the drama and dynamics of their experiences. Before appearing on the show, the couple had been together for two and a half years, starting their relationship shortly after he ended his six-year marriage. Tyler was confident in their bond, believing that his girlfriend, being older and seeking something more genuine, would not be tempted. However, Tayler felt differently, harboring doubts due to past incidents where he had been tempted outside their relationship, which had led to trust issues between them. As contestants from the 5th season reunited, The Blast shared that viewers had a field day dissecting their characters again, especially Vanessa and Rob. Vanessa and Rob left the island together, seemingly happy, but their joy was fleeting. Once back in the real world, their relationship took a turn for the worse, and they ultimately ended up breaking up and going their separate ways. At the reunion, Vanessa discovered that Rob had deceived her about his involvement with Desiree, leading to a significant revelation. A Reddit user made a notable remark, pointing out the impossibility of Rob thinking he could get away with such a lie given the presence of cameras. "Dawg, he thought he was slick. The camera sees everything always," the commenter noted. While some on social media felt that Vanessa had her issues to address, it became clear that Rob's dishonesty was on another level entirely. Many also felt her concerns were valid, especially in light of Rob's actions. Other Reddit users pointed out that Rob should not be seen as a saint compared to her, emphasizing that both have flaws. It will undoubtedly be a rollercoaster season for lovers of "Temptation Island"

'Montoya, Por Favor!': The Story Behind ‘Temptation Island' Spain's Viral Sensation
EXCLUSIVE: If you've been anywhere near social media in the past couple of weeks, you will be familiar with José Carlos Montoya. He's the Spanish hunk making the desperate charge across a moonlit beach to confront his girlfriend as she slips between the sheets with another man. It's the clip that spawned the 'Montoya, por favor!' viral sensation, bringing together in meme-union Whoopi Goldberg, New York Nicks star Josh Hart, and Netflix's social admin. Viewed more than 320M times across two Twitter/X accounts alone, Montoya's mad dash is a cinematic moment that originates from La Isla de las Tentaciones, also known as Spain's version of Temptation Island. Montoya was just five years old when Temptation Island was first conceived on Fox in 2001 and the show is in its eighth season in Spain, meaning the format is well-drilled to deliver high drama. More from Deadline Kate Winslet To Make Directorial Debut With 'Goodbye June' For Netflix 'I Think You Should Leave' Character Actor Biff Wiff Dies Netflix Chief Admits Controversy Around 'Emilia Pérez' Actress Karla Sofía Gascón "Is A Bummer" For the uninitiated, the Banijay reality series transports couples to a tropical island (the Dominican Republic in the case of Spain's version) splits them into male and female villas, and introduces them to attractive singles to test their relationships. Montoya's anguish was captured during one of the show's foundational 'bonfire' scenes, during which contestants watch video footage of their partners getting frisky without a free pass. In Montoya's case, he was watching his girlfriend, Anita Williams, live cheating. Montoya is a reality TV animal having previously appeared on The Language of Love, which aired in the UK on Channel 4. Juan Ramón Gonzalo, the boss of La Isla de las Tentaciones producer Cuarzo Producciones, tells Deadline that Montoya is a very expressive individual, who understands the grammar of the medium. But more than that, Gonzalo says his reaction to Anita cheating is authentic. The couple went through a rigorous casting process, in which they were interviewed together and separately to establish whether they were right for the show. Temptation Island casting teams are plagued with fake couples, so they need to ask testing personal questions about their relationship dynamics and families. They learned that Montoya considered Anita to be his first love. Her son from a previous relationship was also close with Montoya. 'They are a very special couple,' adds Gonzalo. So when Montoya sees Anita's infidelity, a 'real heart was broken,' explains Gonzalo. We do not need to speak Spanish to understand his horror. We don't need to know the history of their relationship to be running by his side as he crosses the beach to confront Anita. It's all there in a clip that tells the story of 25 years of Temptation Island in two minutes. Lucas Green, who oversees Banijay's biggest formats, says the scene is a sales executive's dream: 'It is peak Temptation Island.' Gonzalo notes that his team is well-prepared for such moments. Contestants are wise to the proximity of the villas and others have previously sprinted across the sand to intervene in a steamy moment. Five cameras were trained on Montoya and host Sandra Barneda during the scene, with one crew jumping into action as Montoya bolted from the bonfire. 'If anyone goes out, always a cameraman must go with them,' Gonzalo says. 'In that moment, we know that it will be one of the best moments of the season.' Still, he was surprised to see the scene go so viral. 'We know that we have very good content in this season of Temptation Island, very good casting, but never in my life can we imagine that this content was running worldwide,' Gonzalo says. Green adds that it is unusual for reality TV shows to cut through so spectacularly because they usually require some understanding of the backstory. He compares 'Montoya, por favor!' to Susan Boyle's audition on Britain's Got Talent, which became an early high-watermark in TV moments breaking out online. Does Green wish it had been an official clip that broke the internet rather than one posted from a fan account? 'It's great when it's shared organically, rather than trying to make that a viral meme,' he replies. 'It gives the show a bigger profile outside the territories where it's already on air.' Green laughs that his licensing team's phone has been 'red hot' with inquiries about acquiring the Spanish series, with a clamor to find out how Montoya and Anita's story ends. No word yet if any deal will be done in the U.S. or UK. Another potential winner from the Montoya moment is Netflix. The U.S. version of Temptation Island lands on the streaming giant on March 12 and will hope to capitalize on the online buzz. Green says Netflix is 'very ambitious' about the series, which will be hosted by Mark L. Walberg, but he can't promise there will be a similarly meme-worthy incident. Netflix will hope to recreate the ratings success of Mediaset's Telecinco, where the Spanish version is comfortably winning its time slot and generated more than 30M online views, helping streaming service Mitele to a record January. As for Montoya himself, he had plenty of welfare support from producer Cuarzo Producciones in the period after his heartbreak. He now appears to be revelling in his new-found fame, sending himself up in online ads for Burger King and Real Betis, the Spanish soccer club. Montoya was crazy in love, and now, producer Gonzalo jokes that 'everyone has gone crazy for Montoya.' 'Montoya, por favor!': Viral clip shows reality star catch girlfriend having sex with other man and run to stop it
A clip from a recent episode of Temptation Island Spain, which shows a contestant being forced to watch his girlfriend have sex with another man on a screen and then run down the beach in an attempt to stop her, is going viral. As contestant Montoya appears alongside the host, Sandra Barneda, he's shown live video capturing his girlfriend, Anita, loved up to one of the singles just down the beach from where they're located. He doesn't take it well — who would? — and screams at the screen, cries, and falls to his knees. Then he tears off to stop his love, as the host shouts at him to stop: "Por favor, Montoya!" Related: Temptation Island is coming back! Read EW's 2001 take on the iconic reality hit The cliffhanger footage depicts Montoya showing up at the love nest too late, but his girlfriend hears him shouting from outside. The 30-year-old and Anita, who's 26, have been together for one year, after meeting on another reality show and falling in "love at first sight," according to the official website of La Isla de las Tentaciones. Temptation Island shows couples supposedly testing the strength of their relationships, as they're separated and introduced to hot singles ... and that's really it. The drama, as you can imagine, just flows. As for the Spanish version of Temptation Island, called La Isla de las Tentaciones, the show's website notes that Anita later told the other islanders that Montoya was actually "the first one to mess things up." However, she forgave him enough to break the show's rules by running over to hug him, telling the host that she wanted to "go with him now" and attempting to escape from her part of the village. Contact with your partner isn't allowed. While Anita said she has been hurt by Montoya, she listened as the host told her that their temporary separation would "be good, even though it doesn't seem like it now." The show, now in its eighth season, airs on the Spanish channel Telecinco but is not currently available to stream in the American version of the series premiered in 2001 and aired on Fox for three seasons. It was then revived in 2019 for USA, where it aired for five seasons. Netflix has announced that it's reviving Temptation Island, with original host Mark L. Walberg, to premiere on March has teased another season of "dating chaos in the tropics." Viewers have been advised to "prepare for sunny skies and a high chance of infidelity, as four couples at a pivotal point in their relationships test their bond by living with a group of singles of the opposite sex. Isolated from one another, the couples will decide whether to return to their lives together, chart a new path alone, or leave the island with a new lover." A Very, Very, VERY NSFW Clip From The Spanish Version Of "Temptation Island" Is Going Mega-Viral
If you think shows like Netflix's Love is Blind or The Ultimatum are devious displays of human behavior, then let me introduce you to a title you've likely slept on: Temptation Island. The premise is simple. Several couples are split into two villas: boyfriends on one side and girlfriends on the other. In the men's villa, there's a hoard of attractive women (who are not their partners) trying to "tempt" them to cheat, and a mirrored harem format is found with a group of men greeting the ladies in their villa. To make things even wilder, the show's host completes a bonfire night with the girlfriends where they show them what their boyfriends have been up to in their villa via footage, and the boyfriends get a similar view into their girlfriends' behavior. The clips are usually short and sometimes taken out of context, which can make things soooo much worse. At the end of the show, each person within the pairs decides individually whether they want to leave with their original partner, go home with a person they were tempted by, or protect their peace and leave single. The show's nature is a cuckhold or cheater's dream, and a committed partner's nightmare. And my ultimate guilty pleasure viewing. Well, a clip from Temptation Island Spain, aka La Isla de las Tentaciones, recently went viral, and it has the internet gripped in what some are calling a real-life cinematic masterpiece. this is CINEMA… tension… you don't need to speak spanish to understand, this is insane — 2000s (@PopCulture2000s) February 4, 2025 Telecinco / Twitter: @PopCulture2000s Let me walk you through it — and please brace yourself because things are about to get VERY not-safe-for-work. The clip starts off with a contestant we soon learn is named Montoya. He's watching what appears to be live footage of the women's villa when he spots his girlfriend in a bedroom. She appears VERY comfortable with a male tempter. Telecinco Leading Montoya to start yelling at the screen. The male tempter stands up to turn the lights off (wearing the tiniest of drawls)... Telecinco ...and Montoya is STRESSED. The footage switches to night cam as the tempter eases into bed with Montoya's girlfriend... Telecinco ...and Montoya drops to his knees, unable to look away. He's literally screaming at the footage as kissing sounds are heard in the background. The host is practically begging Montoya to calm down, but my man is losing it. He starts yanking his little shorts up in what I can only assume is an attempt to distract himself from the pain. On-screen, the kissing continues and Montoya can't take anymore. He starts running full speed toward the women's villa. The host chases him, yelling, "¡Montoya, por favor!" Telecinco Montoya is screaming for his girlfriend, asking where she is. But shorty is busy getting stroked out. ON CAMERA. Montoya had already run away from the footage, so he didn't see his girlfriend mid-sex with another man. He was too busy rushing toward the women's villa. Telecinco And it doesn't take long before his screams reach their quarters. Telecinco The girlfriends are seen rubbernecking as they're distracted from their own tempters. Telecinco Montoya arrives at the women's villa, still screaming. And his girlfriend and her other man pause their pumping as they hear the chaos outside. Telecinco / Twitter: @Nukta_ Telecinco / Twitter: @LateefSaka Twitter: @naledimashishi In conclusion: Twitter: @mabintou Unfortunately, La Isla de las Tentaciones can't be streamed in the US. But, maybe if we all yell loud enough, Netflix or another streamer will work something out.
