Fast-forward to the early noughties and an enterprising, art-collecting couple transformed the house into a world-class luxury boutique hotel, its modern signature a soaring sandstone and glass atrium that today is as speccy as ever. La Vie Hotels & Resorts took over the property in 2022, unveiling a makeover late last year.
