Ex-Navy Chief heads Labuan Port Authority

LABUAN: Former Port Dickson Member of Parliament Dato' Danyal Balagopal Abdullah has been appointed new Chairman of Labuan Port Authority (LPA), a post which had been vacant for long. Labuan Chinese Chamber of Commerce Chairman Datuk Wong Kee Yii, who welcomed the new chief in a gala dinner, said: 'I have known him for almost 40 years and he is the right man for the job being in the navy for four decades and familiar with marine-related matters.' Danyal retired as Rear Admiral of the Royal Malaysian Navy before entering into politics and winning the Port Dickson seat by more than 17,000 votes in 2018 and vacated it before the end of the term.
