Fire at Noble Street building under investigation
A Friday morning fire at an older commercial building on Noble Street sent thick smoke billowing across the city as firefighters worked to contain the flames.
Anniston Fire Chief Jeff Waldrep said the department received the call at 7:57 a.m. and responded with Ladder One and four additional engines. Crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures while Anniston police blocked off Noble Street to assist emergency responders.
The fire heavily damaged the front portion of the building at 303 Noble Street. The fire's origin and cause are under investigation by Anniston Fire Marshal Jason Brown.
Waldrep said it was unclear whether the building was occupied, but it did have electrical service running to it. No injuries were reported.
