Help Knighton's Shop Front Heroes get on stage at Lakefest

A POWYS band is urging supporters to help them get on the bill at this year's Lakefest. Taking place from August 6-10, Lakefest has been described as the UK's fastest growing family festival, and is being held at Eastnor Castle Deer Park, Herefordshire. Hoping to be there, lining up alongside the likes of Faithless, Echo & The Bunnymen, Groove Armada, Busted, So Solid Crew, Dub Pistols, Kula Shaker and the Brand New Heavies, are Knighton band Shop Front Heroes. The band is in the running to appear on the bill, as part of the festival's official emerging artists competition – Road To Lakefest. 'We've been shortlisted for this year's Road To Lakefest's emerging artists competition,' said the band. 'Top prizes include an appearance on the main stage and three days recording at Mark Gardener's Ox4 Studios. 'Crucially, if we get to the next round, we will be performing at Lakefest 2025.' There are four rounds as part of the competition. Round two, the public vote, is now open, where you can play your part in getting Shop Front Heroes there. There are 30 bands to vote for; the top 18 will go through to the live semi-finals, where they will play a 20-minute set at this year's Cheltenham Cider Festival over the weekend of May 24-25. All bands who make it through to this round will automatically get a slot playing at Lakefest, on the Road to Lakefest stage. But the top 6 will get to play on the main stage.
