Farhan Akhtar shared a lovely video to celebrate 21 years of Hrithik Roshan starrer
Farhan Akhtar's coming-of-age war drama Lakshya turned 21 this year. The director thus couldn't stop revisiting the golden memories of the movie that starred an ensemble cast, including Hrithik Roshan, Priety Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan. He dropped a video on Instagram alongside a touching note that soon captured the War actor's attention.
Farhan Akhtar posted a montage video that beautifully features glimpses from the iconic scenes of the movie Lakshya to mark its 21st birthday. The director even added the movie's patriotic feelings-awakening song Kandhon Se Milte Hain Kandhe, crooned by Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Roop Kumar Rathod, Kunal Ganjawala and Vijay Prakash. He captioned it with a meaningful note that read, 'Celebrating 21 years of a story about finding purpose, one step at a time. #21YearsOfLakshya."

Soon, Hrithik Roshan reacted to the video, evoking his old memories with the film that was a subtle response to discussions with several 1999 Kargil War veterans and army officers. He penned, 'Goose flesh," followed by two fire and two red heart emojis.
Many other social media users also responded to the video. One user said, 'One of the best movies in Bollywood." Another person asked Farhan, 'Why did you stop making such films? You used to be my favourite Director." A German fan of the ace director mentioned, 'In Germany, we call it 'Klassiker" – this means outstanding and timeless … the story, the stars and not to forget the music." 'My go to thing in bad times," said someone, while a comment read, 'Aaj ke youth ko zarur yeh movie dekhna chahiye ..cool banke koi hero nahi Banta desh Ke liye ladke hero Banta hai …sab songs sunta hoon bahut Josh laata hai andar mere."
Hrithik Roshan played the pivotal role of Karan Shergill in Lakshya, an irresponsible young man who has no plans for his future, opposite Preity Zinta as Romila Dutta, who is an aspiring journalist. Romi then inspires Karan to find a purpose in life, and he joins the Indian Army after going through the Combined Defence Services Examination, despite his parents' disapproval.
The movie showcases how Karan undergoes a series of tasks to become a focused army cadet, finally paving the way for him to be promoted as the acting Captain during the outbreak of hostilities in Kargil, Ladakh. Afterwards, the entire battalion sets off on its mission until it succeeds.
The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan as Colonel Sunil Damle, Sharad Kapoor as Major Binod Sengupta, Boman Irani as Mr. Shergill, Om Puri as Subedar Major Pritam Singh, Rajendranath Zutshi as Major Kaushal Verma, Sushant Singh as Captain Jalal Akbar and Parmeet Sethi as Major Shahbaaz Humdani, among others.
