Autowallah returns Rs 17L AIZAWAL: An auto-rickshaw driver in Mizoram's Lawngtlai returned Rs 17 lakh to a businessman from Myanmar, who had inadvertently left the sum behind in his vehicle, reports HC Vanlalruata. Around 9pm Thursday, the businessman had hired Lalhmingmuana's auto-rickshaw for a ride and forgot the cash in a polythene bag. Back at the hotel, panic ensued as the businessman and hotel staff frantically searched the hotel room for the missing money. Upon discovering it, Lalhmingmuana returned to the hotel to hand over the money, expecting nothing in return. C Zathianga, president of the Lawngtlai Auto Rickshaw Owners' Association, praised Lalhmingmuana for his honesty.

Remarkably, Lalhmingmuana expected nothing in return for his noble act, a testament to his character. The incident unfolded on Thursday night around 9pm. The Myanmar businessman had hired Lalhmingmuana's auto-rickshaw for a ride from the Bazar Veng locality to Hotel Husop in the Lawngtlai-3 neighborhood. While getting down, he left a polythene bag filled with currency notes behind his seat. Panic ensued as the businessman and hotel staff frantically searched the hotel room for the missing bundle. Meanwhile, Lalhmingmuana, upon discovering the forgotten money, made his way back to the hotel. There, he handed over the bundle to its rightful owner, restoring not just the money, but also faith in humanity. C Zathianga, president of the Lawngtlai Auto Rickshaw Owners' Association (LAROA), expressed immense pride in Lalhmingmuana's actions. "Though the auto-rickshaw driver was fully aware of what was inside the bundle, he honestly handed over it to the businessman and we are all extremely proud of him for his honesty and noble gesture," Zathianga said.
