Los Angeles Chargers reveal what number KeAndre Lambert-Smith will wear

Los Angeles Chargers reveal what number KeAndre Lambert-Smith will wear KLS will rock a traditional wide receiver number as a rookie with the Los Angeles Chargers. The road to the NFL is becoming real for former Auburn wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith as he received his jersey number from the Los Angeles Chargers. The Los Angeles Chargers announced jersey numbers for their incoming draft class, including Lambert-Smith, who has been assigned No. 84 with his new team. The Chargers selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft, taking him with the 158th overall pick. Lambert-Smith takes the next step in his career after spending one season in Auburn, where he led the team in receiving yards with 981 yards and eight touchdowns on 50 catches. Alex Katson of Chargers Wire shares why Los Angeles selected the talented receiver. Lambert-Smith was a standout at the East-West Shrine Bowl, showing a more diverse route tree than Auburn asked of him, primarily hitches and go routes. While his slight size let defensive backs push him off course, he improved as a catcher in 2024 and immediately upgraded LA's speed from the outside. Lambert Smith was one of three Tigers selected in this year's NFL draft, joining running back Jarquez Hunter (4th round- Los Angeles Rams) and Jalen McLeod (6th round- Jacksonville Jaguars). 2025 NFL draft: Why the Chargers selected WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith

2025 NFL draft: Why the Chargers selected WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith The Chargers have double-dipped at wide receiver. With the 158th overall selection, Los Angeles bet on athletic upside with wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith, a 4.37 40-yard dash runner who will add a strong vertical element to the Chargers offense from the Z position. With Ladd McConkey and Derius Davis in the slot, as well as Mike Williams and second-rounder Tre Harris at X, the Chargers only missed a legitimate backup for Quentin Johnston at the Z position. Lambert-Smith will fill that role and likely receive 10-12 offensive snaps a game as a designated go-ball threat as a rookie. The projection will be on special teams, where Lambert-Smith has minimal experience. Theoretically, his speed should lend himself well to a returner or gunner role, but Ryan Ficken will have to spend some extra time working with him to get him into a functional role.

However, he will wear different shades of blue and gold. The Los Angeles Chargers selected Lambert-Smith with the 158th overall pick in the fifth round of the NFL draft. Lambert-Smith led the Tigers in receiving last season, hauling in 50 catches for 981 yards and eight touchdowns. He was the highest-graded receiver at Auburn last season with an 80.4 in the category. He reached that number by hauling in 63.3% of his targeted passes for an average of 19.6 yards per catch. He dropped only three of his 79 targeted passes last season and made seven "contested" catches according to data from Pro Football Focus. Hunter was taken in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Rams with the 117th overall pick. Patriots visiting with under-the-radar SEC receiver ahead of draft

The New England Patriots are hosting Auburn wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith on a top-30 visit, per The Draft Network's Justin Melo. Lambert-Smith played for four seasons at Penn State, before transferring to Auburn prior to the 2024 season. He caught 50 passes for 981 yards and eight touchdowns last year. For his collegiate career, he tallied 176 receptions for 2,702 yards and 19 touchdowns. Advertisement Currently, he is projected to fall somewhere in the sixth round, according to New England could pick him up as a depth option at the position in the later rounds. This is notable, as they can focus on more premium positions earlier on. Lambert-Smith is a playmaker who functions best as an outside receiver. The Patriots could certainly benefit from more playmaking on the outside, as well as another weapon for second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Most view wideouts Demario Douglas and Kayshon Boutte as sixth-round steals for the team in 2023. Perhaps Lambert-Smith has the talent to someday be viewed in the same light.
