LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — A multi-vehicle crash that occurred over the weekend was determined to have been caused by a drunk driver. According to Pennsylvania State Police, on April 19, around 10:51 p.m., troopers were notified of a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on Lincoln Highway East at the intersection with South Singer Avenue in Paradise Township, Lancaster County. Subscribe Now Upon investigation, authorities determined that a Hyundai Sonata, operated by 34-year-old Douglas Lewis Jr., of New Holland, was traveling west on Lincoln Highway East while a Toyota Highlander was traveling east. At the intersection of South Singer Avenue, Lewis Jr. swerved into the eastbound lane and struck the Toyota Highlander head-on. Police say that at the time of the crash, Lewis Jr. was traveling with his 3-year-old son, and the Toyota Highlander was occupied with four people, including two passengers who were seven and eight years old. Police said that the 7-year-old passenger of the Toyota Highlander sustained injuries consisting of a fracture to their femur and an orbital floor fracture to their face. All other vehicle occupants involved in this crash sustained minor injuries. Troopers later determined that Lewis Jr. was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. On April 20, Douglas Lewis Jr. was arraigned on charges including Endangering the Welfare of Children (F2), Aggravated Assault by Vehicle while DUI (F2), DUI (M), and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2). MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Two of the victims of Sunday's plane crash in Lancaster County were flown and another was driven to a Lehigh Valley burn center, hospital officials said. The five victims aboard the Beechcraft Bonanza that crashed just after 3 p.m. near Lancaster Airport were taken to Lancaster General Hospital, a hospital spokesperson said. Two of the victims, they said, were flown via PennSTAR to the burn center at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest just outside Allentown. Pilot's audio details moments leading up to crash Another was taken by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Two others remain at Lancaster General Hospital. Their conditions were not provided. No other injuries were reported. The plane went down at Brethren Village, a retirement community just south of the Lancaster Airport in Manheim Township, bursting into flames.
