Who do you think was the hero of Ohio State's national championship run?

From now until preseason camp starts in August, Land-Grant Holy Land will be writing articles around a different theme every week. This week is all about Ohio State heroes. Whether they are the biggest names in Buckeye athletic history, or underappreciated icons; perhaps even players who made major impacts off the field. You can catch up on all of the Theme Week content here and all of our 'Buckeye Heroes' articles here. Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE. As we celebrate Buckeye Heroes Week here at Land-Grant Holy Land, in this week's fan survey, we are asking you to look back at both the recent and distant pasts to determine who Buckeye Nation thinks are some of the most important heroes in the annals of Ohio State athletics. Advertisement So, below you can check out the two questions we are asking in the LGHL Reacts survey this week, and then underneath, make sure that you vote. Obviously, these two questions have a nearly infinite number of answers, so if your favorite wasn't included in the possible answers, feel free to head to the comments at the bottom of the page and make your case there. We will share the results from the survey later this week, so make sure to come back and see what your fellow Buckeye fans thought. Question 1: Who do you think was the hero of the Buckeyes' national championship run? When I think of Ohio State's College Football Playoff journey last season, I think of a total team effort. While there were certainly players who had incredible performances, whether it was in the first two blowout victories or the closer final two games, every game felt like it was 11 guys working in unison on every play. Therefore, it is difficult to pinpoint just one guy, but it also means that there are a ton of options. Advertisement Obviously, the quarterback always deserves a ton of credit when a team wins a title, but the Buckeyes relied on multiple running backs, two elite wide receivers, and a rebuilt offensive line that massively outperformed expectations, and that's just on the offensive side of the ball. At every level of the defense, OSU was stout and, at times, impenetrable. So, I get it that it is going to be damn near impossible to settle on one 'hero' for the run, but it's the offseason, what else do we have to discuss and debate this time of year? Question 2: Other than Jesse Owens, who is the ultimate Buckeye hero? Now, this question gets a little more complicated (and not just because one of the options was recently arrested in a prostitution sting). Throughout the history of Ohio State athletics, there have been so many incredible stars who have transcended their sports to warrant the title of hero. From football to basketball and beyond, there are countless OSU alums who have become synonymous not only with excellence in their sport, but the epitome of what it means to be a Buckeye. Advertisement Take a look at the options in the survey, and if you aren't feeling one of them, write in a new option in the comments below. Share your thoughts here: Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in Ohio State fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys. The Big Sky champions came into Columbus after winning the regular season and conference tournament with a 30-3 record, but after a back-and-forth start to the game, Ohio State ran away in a 71-51 win. Advertisement After the game, head coach Kevin McGuff and guards Chance Gray and Jaloni Cambridge spoke with the media. Coach McGuff talked about how the Buckeyes lack of extra passes in the first quarter led to the game being so close, with six lead changes in the first half. Also, his message to the team at halftime, which led to a 15-point third quarter run that put the game away for Ohio State and the moment that led to a technical foul for the coach. Gray and Cambridge talked about what forward Cotie McMahon texted to them Friday morning and how the team responded to McGuff's second quarter technical foul and the Buckeyes' 26 forced turnovers against the Bobcats.
